@MostlyAdmiring Economists are humans, too! This episode was intensely emotional, but also entirely enlightening despite very little econ-talk. Absolutely recommend.
@EconTalker Hmm, could be anything from advice on what to order the first time you go to a restaurant to addressing climate change. My guess, based on listening to EconTalk, it is more focused on individualistic issues rather than collective issues. Not clear from the title, though.
@EGirlMonetarism Why do you say (not in this post but the climate change/growth post) "wind/solar are much more reliable than fossil fuels"? I have always thought this was a major drawback of wind/solar (not nuclear!). (graphic source: https://t.co/u4KzhtTWlH)
Are there economists who seriously support the Texas abortion bill? How is taking away choice from decision-makers in that context anything but heinous and grotesque? #EconTwitter#AbortionBan
@EconTalker - Donald Shoup on the Economics of Parking; extremely accessible, wildly interesting and a great exercise in price theory
- Steven Levitt on Freakonomics; perhaps only because of the hilarious "Really? Prison?" exchange
- Don Boudreaux on Globalization; concise and compelling
What sort of policy, if any, affects the demand curve rather than just quantity demanded? I think 'awareness' programs have this effect but I'm not sure... #EconTwitter
Is there a reading list out there somewhere for pre-doc students? I am looking for something between textbooks aimed at phd students and 'Freakonomics-esque' books #EconTwitter
@ATabarrok Has anyone tried to determine the elasticity of demand for COVID vaccines? How price sensitive are the unvaccinated? Would making them 'feel' the full medical costs of catching COVID significantly increase vaccine uptake?
@itosettiMD_MBA While I do think this is valuable information moving forward (esp. regarding boosters), is the headline still 'Vaccines work; less than 0.4% of infection for those who have received 2 doses of the vaccine"?
I feel like online multiplayer video games platforms are a decent environment for learning about human behavior. Given that people care about their in-game well-being, you could probably run fairly insightful, controlled experiments
