17 years ago today (3/29/09), @CitiField opened its doors to the public for the first time with a college game between @StJohnsU and @Georgetown. The @Mets' 1st Major League game wouldn't be for another two weeks, but it all started on a rainy Sunday afternoon this day in 2009.
@SNYtv I agree with his perspective. You can't manufacture team camaraderie any more than you can manufacture another OMG, another Grimace, or even another thumbs-down. It has to be organic, it has to come naturally, it has to be spontaneous and come from within.
@MikeJanela I'll be happy if gate giveaways went to all fans, like they did in 1986. Continuing to limit them to the first 15,000 - especially after they asked us to step up and show up, which we did to the tune of over three million fans last year - ๐.
@GottaBelievePod Why are they still limiting giveaways to the first 15,000 fans? ๐๐๐๐๐ In 1986 gate giveaways went to every fan who showed up!
Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary
(Actually, I didn't remember; it came up in my notifications and Twitter encouraged me to "Celebrate with a special post created just for you", and that's what you're seeing... ๐ฅณ)
@NYM_News I'll let those more knowledgeable than I am about such matters comment on player issues, but one thing he has to do is stop limiting the gate giveaways to the first 15,000 fans and make sure everyone who shows up gets one.
The Mets had an unofficial presence on NBC's broadcast of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade thanks to an attendee wearing one of @The7Line's Home Run Apple beanies.
@HowieRose In their very first City Connect game (4/27/24 v. STL), the Mets were down 4 runs before they even had a chance to bat. A bad omen, because they didn't win a single game in their City Connect jerseys until almost two months later (6/15/24 v. SD)! ๐ฎ
@nut_history Clem Labine, an Original Met who only appeared in three games in 1962, including their very first one.
Clem Labine was the very first to wear the hallowed #41 for the Mets.
MLB should really have a second broadcast option where you can watch the game with the local crew on the call. It's absurd that fans go through an entire season with the local folks then are saddled with a national crew with zero insight on the teams they're calling.
@MetsMuse Let's see... Vogelbach is beloved Mets fan favorite ๐ฎ Daniel Vogelbach... I created a video of @CosellPA announcing Darin Ruf's name over and over and over from a video of him announcing the 2022 Wild Card Game 2 starters ๐ฅณ... so that leaves Cedric Mullins. Sorry Cedric.๐
@MikeJanela Is it okay to say they lost because on the night they gave out the SNY Player Pins featuring Gary, Keith and Ron each fan got either Gary, Keith OR Ron but not a complete set of all three? ๐
I don't have anything relevant to say at the present time so I'm posting a photo of beloved Mets fan favorite Daniel Vogelbach ๐ฏ on the mighty Citi Field scoreboard just for the heck of itโฆ ๐
@Mets@CitiField I hate to say this, but the way the Mets are playing, someone's gonna call the office and say "I have tickets to Sunday's game, what time does it start?", and they're going to say "what time can you get here?" ๐ญ
