Taxpayers (either local councils or the rest of us) are now outrageously on the hook for £4m legal bill after @benhouchen & STDC believed they "could extract a ransom payment from PD Teesport" for access rights (words of the Judge) across the controversial "Freeport" land, and failed.
🔷PDT is the 5th largest port in the UK, been there years.
🔷Review of Teesside Freeport said there are "major governance failures" after £560 million of taxpayers assets put in, and 90% of the new corporation handed to 2 private businessmen who have already extracted £100+m.

I hope Boris's buddy 'Lord' Ben Houchen gets what's coming to him in the local elections.
