@jackcrawford__@LocalBtnMasher part of the reason Spelunky is still the top of the craft is because Derek Yu knows how to make a platformer. it turns out to make something randomized compelling, you first need to make something compelling on its own.
@Demruth@Jonathan_Blow@computerd0g@jackcrawford__ and regardless of whether you like it or not, the game is intentionally designed around it. the implication that i did it because i was lazy and didn't know about platformer design or polish is being purposefully inciteful. please imagine interiority for other poeple too, jon.
@Demruth@Jonathan_Blow@computerd0g@jackcrawford__ yeah, this is what's usually referred to in the platformer community as "sub-pixel position". crucially, though, both of these screenshot still represent on the platform which is in contradiction with what mr. blow is claiming.
@Jonathan_Blow@computerd0g@jackcrawford__@Demruth if it's my game am i disqualified from this challenge?there are subpixel positions but the collision is accurate to the pixel display. i could with 100% accuracy tell you from still screenshots if you're on a platform or not based on your physical position, i promise.
gate will be joining me on stream this Saturday to discuss Derelict Star, one of the best platformers ever!! it's an incredibly vast and intricate (but surprisingly friendly) game that you should play right now!!
On this week's Crewcast, Danny's living out his holy dreams in I Am Jesus Christ, Frank's going turbo in a circuit of racing games, Jeremy shares new brain-expanding platformer Derelict Star, and nocaps joins the crew to chat about Songs of Glimmerwick.

Please boost -- trying to get to 50 reviews for the Steam algorithm.
I already have glowing reviews from the likes of Raigan Burns (N++) and Daniel Linssen (Leap Year) and just need a handful more!

@miloisalive the game is definitely hard and takes persistence! if you're having trouble with certain areas you can try the assist options in the menu, or use the help/hints menu to get some ideas about how certain mechanics work.
