Transit Lounge Publishing have placed my next novel in their list of forthcoming publications, so it’s probably not too early to take a sneak peek at the rather beautiful cover, and read the blurb. 🙂 Release date: 1 September 2026. https://t.co/CGFFea1OXv
The back cover of #SiangLu’s #GhostCities compares the allegorical and imaginative novel to Murakami and Calvino. But I like the Australian-Chinese nature of the novel in its dual settings, its comedy and outlook. Some thoughts here:

Iris and Floyd are children of convicts – adult orphans, nomadic and symbiotic twins. Just who would be interested in them is another question, castoffs as they are. (Thoughts on #RobbieArnott’s novel “#Dusk”). https://t.co/XASldydHxr
In #ChinesePostman, #BrianCastro creates a character who draws the reader into an imagined other world, full of unfulfilled desires, but life-affirming just the same. My thoughts here: https://t.co/AvOpLiuaX8
The image from Adelaide Oval of the Australian Cricket Team swaying as the sang True Blue reminded me of something. It was the Whos and the Grinch singing the Welcome Christmas. The Australian team is the Grinch that stole the (English) Christmas. #australiancricketteam#trueblue
We went to see #SpinalTap 2: The End Continues. I won’t give away too much in case you are also drawn to a near-empty theatre to support Tap. But a word of support for David’s 3/4 bridge in the new song they are working on. Both Nigel and Paul aren’t seeing the big picture.
#ThePlains was once described by Ben Lerner as a ‘strange Australian masterpiece’, a novel that ‘can feel less like something you’ve read than something you’ve dreamed’ (The New Yorker, 29 March 2017). Here’s my thoughts on #geraldmurbane’s 1982 novel. https://t.co/CgC5JiFhpi
Visit to The BRIT School, Croydon. Stuart Worden, Headteacher: ‘The BRIT school believes that they [BRIT students] will change the world. And that we will create social change, that art is not just about commerce.’ https://t.co/3dGsU1QJZ7
There is quite a bit to explore here but a key takeaway from my visit to Thomas Tallis School is the development of both a whole school pedagogy and discipline-based threshold concepts. #creativity#progressiveschools https://t.co/ArPbQmRATE
Visit to @wearelearnlife Barcelona as part of my NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarship investigating '#creativity across the curriculum: https://t.co/ujFPxidvqR
Today I visited the OECD in Paris as part of my NSW Premier's Teacher Scholarship exploring 'Creativity Across the Curriculum'. Thanks to
@ChrisMinnsMP. You can read about my visit here: https://t.co/t64BlZBEZt…
My thoughts on #PaulAuster's 1990 novel #TheMusicofChance: something absurd in contemporary American life must have been foreseen in Auster’s terrible fables like this one.

80 years and counting since the publication of the incredible #ErnMalley poems. Here’s my essay in the latest edition of Australian Literary Studies, comparing to another #LiteraryHoax from Spain, #JusepTorresCampalans: https://t.co/XKt3vRQ8oS
It takes skill to write a historical novel that feels present. It takes heart to make the story of one man’s life feel important so that the reader experiences vicariously the trials, tribulations and triumphs of one human being. #Limberlost review: https://t.co/r9clwu4meK...
Pretty thrilled to see my essay on two apocryphal modernists — #ernmalley and #juseptorrescampalans published in @ALSjournal just a few days before Christmas https://t.co/XKt3vRQGeq
Australia has become too great. So I’m starting a new movement: MAMA. Make Australia Mediocre Again. What colour for the hat? #makeaustraliamediocreagain#MAMA
Drawing your attention to my just-released single, ‘This Goodbye’, which speaks about loss, and in another way, making the most of every day we have together. #singersongwriter#NewMusic#folksong#thisgoodbye https://t.co/RblMK0Kq22
Taking some long service leave— that great Australian invention. First some time in the north of Europe and then walking the #CaminoDeSantiago. Travelling light with a light to heavy heart depending on the time of day ;) Currently in Hamburg where I spent 5 years in another life.
