Please note that the Commercial Music Ensemble will not meet on Monday due to the holiday. We will therefore start on the following Monday. I will create a Canvas shell with all the students in the ensemble and will post music to check out in the Announcements!

We had a record number of students audition this semester and the competition was tough! Audition results have been posted on the Jazz Band website for Jazz Band 1, Jazz Band 2 and Commercial Music Ensemble. Jazz Bands start rehearsing today!

You can now sign up for jazz band and commercial music ensemble auditions online on the jazz band website! Please make sure you sign up for time slot by tonight! If you were already in the top jazz band you will not need to audition unless your spot is contested.

Hello Jazzers. Wanted to remind everyone that Alex Kaufman's Big Band is playing tonight downtown at 7pm at Bo Diddley Plaza. We hope you can come out and support the music! Many of you have friends in this band and I believe Annie Matot will be singing tonight.

Jazz Band audition results have been posted. Please go to the UF Jazz Band website and hover over the auditions link and the auditions result link will appear. We had so many talented auditions! Please know that for Jazz Band 1 we have piano call-backs tomorrow at 1:55pm.

For those of you interested in the vocal jazz combo, we will be having a zoom meeting on Monday at 6:30pm. I will send a zoom link out tomorrow morning to those who signed up on the sheet. We will discuss a time to meet that works for everyone and assign dates for each singer!

Jazz Band Auditions are Thursday and Friday (Aug 21-22). Sign up now! The audition sign-up sheet is located outside the School of Music front office. Jazz Band 1 members do not have to audition, however, if there is a great audition we may have section callbacks for challenges.

NOTE: Jazz Band 1 and Jazz Band 2 will meet in MUB 101 today. Also, we have guest artist Caren Cole in today! She will be speaking in the first half of the JB 2 rehearsal at 3pm. Caren is a jazz vocalist from NY and going to talk about the biz!!! Concert at 5:10pm in 101.

TODAY - guest artist Scott Belck! 1:55pm works with Jazz 1 (MUB 101), 3pm Masterclass with all (MUB121). Scott Belck serves as the Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music where he directs the CCM Jazz Orch and teaches Jazz Tpt.

Reminder that today is Jazz in Park at Lake Wauburg. We have a small combo playing from 11am to 1pm. Feel free to come out and sit it with the group or just hit the beach or nature trails or paddle boats!! This is not a required event but it is a lot of fun! :)
