Only 222 World Cup minutes separated City's and Arsenal's current squads.
But Arsenal carried more late-release minutes, while Maresca said four City Community Shield starters had only two or three first-team sessions.
Similar workload. Different preparation.
Part 2 ↓
Manchester City carried the most World Cup minutes among current Premier League squads.
But Aston Villa had the highest late-release share among the top seven: 75%.
Same tournament, very different preseasons.
UEFA needs to keep the pressure on. They are in a strong position right now and can ensure the future of football remains out of private institutions trying to make profit off it. This is not guaranteed in a couple years let alone later in the decade - so better to put it in law rather than just talk about it! Infantino and his likes need to be stopped now by putting it in law/charter of FIFA
Infantino and his core group of supporters within FIFA and across other FA’s need to come out and answer the hard questions being asked from them! Love to see how people who dearly love football have come forward and brought it this supposed all power organization at cross roads where they are made to think and ponder what they are doing
@TheAthleticFC Infantino needs to understand he’s in this position to govern how FIFA should be working towards improving football around the world! He doesn’t own any part of it, wasn’t chosen as a CEO to reap benefits for the investors!
This is good but still isn’t a strong enough buff to what Infantino’s trying to do! Transparency for a really bad idea - doesn’t turn it into a good one! The only reason Infantino’s trying to do it is - he knows enough people will exchange their vote for money when voting happens!
@AdamCrafton_@TheAthleticFC They have a chance to bring FIFA back to what it was - or play a part in breaking FIFA up in two and be on the side who choose money over the love for the game!
This is the one thing that original FIFA founders ensured wasn’t possible through the charter they signed! This financial engineering is just an attempt to get around it! UEFA stepping away from this and calling it out for what it is will help keep football accessible to people around the world!
@JacobsBen In no real Democratic process do we see the opposing party getting retaliated against because they hold different views! So let’s not kid around that this is a real voting - it’s vote for cash - simple!
FIFA’s and Infantino’s retaliatory stance against FA’s opposing this proposal makes everyone question the legitimacy (not the legality) of the promised improvement of football at the ground roots and FIFA’s real intentions! If improvements of football was the real goal - there wouldn’t be a threat of such a retaliation

It’s pretty laughable that Canale equates 'complexity' with just fouling people and taking them out of the game. Physicality and dark arts aren't tactics - they’re nothing more than disruption. South American football has a rich heritage of technical brilliance, from Brazil’s flair to Colombia’s tempo control. Pretending that hacking away at European players makes your style 'more complex' is just a weak excuse to cover up a lack of actual tactical nuance - which Spain showed very well in the final!
@israel_ajoje The issue is how many of those federations running on a couple million dollars are spending that money efficiently and not letting it wash away through the cracks into people’s pockets?
Instead of taking a daring step forward - Italian FA has again taken two steps back by falling back on their old guard! The whole reason they haven’t been seen in World Cup is because they keep depending on their friends and old buddies! They are letting down a country with great football heritage!
This is one smokescreen that people need to look through! FIFA has already sold itself by raising the prices of tickets sky high that a normal family can’t even watch the football game they love! UEFA seems to be the only stalwart of football looking out for the true lovers of this game!
