“Our members are tired of waking up and wondering whether government is going to shut them down”
That’s the uncertainty this NDP government has created across our economy, and it has to change.
The death of a thousand cuts, brought on by this NDP government, is killing our small businesses.
BC doesn’t feel like a place where you can start a business, grow a business, and get ahead.
I talked to @cfax1070 about the youth jobs crisis and how to turn it around.

Great to start the day by welcoming the @ECA_BC to Kelowna for their annual conference and AGM, thank them for all they do to build BC, and encourage them to visit our local wineries while they’re in town!
Parents deserve to have confidence that their kids are safe at school.
I spoke with @AM1150 about the recent attack at Springvalley Middle School - and the concerning lack of progress on school safety since the tragedy at Tumbler Ridge.

Congratulations to our new @Conservative_BC leader @KerryLynneFindl.
The real fight begins today.
The real opponent is the NDP government that is failing BC.
Together we will defeat them and form a new and better government for the people of British Columbia.
The @Conservative_BC leadership race is a family tug-of-war, not a civil war.
The minute our new leader is announced, we are all on the same page.
The real contest is not between leadership candidates.
It is between an NDP government that has lost control of the basics and a Conservative team ready to restore competence, confidence, and common sense in British Columbia.

In Budget Estimates today, the Premier falsely claimed the NDP cut B.C.’s small business tax rate by 25%.
They didn’t.
They cut it from 2.5% to 2.0%, nine years ago.
That’s 20%, not 25%. The Premier is wrong on basic math.
And one line item is not the whole tax story. The aggregate tax burden has gone way up under this government.
Economic literacy matters.
It was a pleasure to catch up with representatives of the BC Urban Mayors’ Caucus during their recent visit to the @BCLegislature.
From public safety to housing affordability to transportation to improving consultation with local government, the working relationship between the province and municipalities is crucial - and in need of improvement.

Thank you MLA @gavindew for meeting with CFIB to discuss BC's rising youth unemployment and how small businesses can help create more opportunities.
📢 Small businesses are often a first step into the workforce, but rising costs are making it harder to hire and train young workers. #bcpoli 1/2
After a knife attack at Springvalley Middle School in Kelowna, I asked the Minister of Education what school safety changes have actually been implemented since Tumbler Ridge.
No real answer, and not a word about Springvalley.
Disappointing.
Mission Accomplished!
Today I amplified the voices of the families of Bailey McCourt and the friends of Laura Gover.
And we achieved a meeting with a minister and an openness to GPS monitoring!!
Its better than yesterday!

Yesterday, the Legislature voted on my motion to give MLAs basic training in economics, public finance, and numeracy.
The NDP amended it to dilute the economic focus and gave speeches about wedge politics instead, so Conservatives voted against their amended version.
It still passed.
At a time of weak confidence, job losses, and economic uncertainty, it should not be controversial or divisive to ask elected officials to better understand taxes, spending, debt, regulation, and incentives.
British Columbians deserve a serious, grown-up government that’s focused on fundamentals.
