$META $ODD VINDICATION AND A WARNING FOR META SHAREHOLDERS
Not long after making this this post (quoted), it’s becoming very apparent I was on the money with this one
The following information support my view that Meta is in crisis;
1. Mark Zuckerberg issued a highly unusual internal memo admitting that Meta made major mistakes in its massive AI-driven corporate restructuring. For a CEO of one of the magnificent 7 to do this is unprecedented and it’s likely that’s because of the scale and severity of the problem.
2. Meta laid off 8,000 employees and forcibly transferred another 7,000 engineers and staff directly into AI-focused roles. In total, nearly 20% of Meta’s workforce has been displaced or upended by the race to become an AI-first company. This has clearly backfired based on the absolute turmoil we are seeing from insiders at the company.
3. Internal leaks reveal that engineers in the Applied AI units feel trapped, forced into grueling code generation and data training work. Meta's Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, reportedly described the internal environment as "brutal," with managers severely stretched under a 50-to-1 ratio of staff to supervisors.
4. Advertisers have been in an uproar over erratic behavior in Meta’s primary source of revenue…its ad engine. Meta silently pushed a foundational update to its ad delivery system (internally referred to as the Andromeda system). Instead of optimising for immediate clicks or purchases, the AI was altered to predict the “long-term customer journey”.
Because the AI shifted to a long horizon model using pixel and conversion data originally set up for short term tracking, the system experienced severe data instability. Advertisers reported sudden 15% to 40% spikes in Cost Per Mille (CPMs) alongside crashing Return on Ad Spend (ROAS). Smaller campaigns with fewer than 50 conversion events a week have been heavily penalized and essentially starved of reach.
Users and media reported that the ad delivery system became highly erratic, serving completely irrelevant ads, displaying sideways videos, black square images, and showing ads in the wrong languages.
5. Meta’s unified ad and business plumbing suffered an infrastructure breakdown on June 12, taking down Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and critically, Ads Manager and the WhatsApp Business Platform.
6. All the while, META is burning over $100B trying to build out AI infrastructure, which continues to have very uncertain ROIC.
So in summary, their ads platform is in complete meltdown with creators leaving in their droves
Their biggest source of revenue is now their biggest problem to sort out
It seems andromeda has been a complete disaster and they have, to some degree, lost control of it
Not good. If I was a shareholder I would be concerned tbh
Not financial advice
