[STATEMENT] I welcome the Western Cape High Court judgment dismissing applications by the Liberty Fighters Network and Mr Reyno De Beer, after the court found the litigation was “manifestly without merit”, pursued for “improper purposes”, and amounted to “an abuse of the court’s processes”.
This judgment is an important affirmation of the integrity of our legal system and the proper use of court processes.
On a lighter note
I am still trying to get used to being called Chairperson, today someone jokingly referred to me as CIC (Chairperson of Impeachment Committee) 😂😂
On Monday, Israeli airstrikes (see previous post) *again* damaged our NRC office in Tyre, South Lebanon.
The indiscriminate attack caused severe damage to Jabal Amel Hospital. Four people were killed, and 127 injured.
Patients, who should have been safe inside the hospital, were injured. So were 39 hospital staff, including doctors, nurses and employees who should have been protected while caring for others.
Hospitals must never be targeted. To strike them is a war crime under international law.
For how much longer will these strikes in densely packed urban areas be allowed to continue with such impunity?
This BBC news footage is filmed from metres from our office in Tyre:

A win not just for MVC, but for everyone who uses the courts to defend constitutional rights.
The Court has reaffirmed the Biowatch principle, protecting public interest litigants from punitive costs orders when they act in good faith to hold the state accountable.

Today the EU made American AI illegal in 27 countries.
The reason is ONE sentence Microsoft's own lawyer said under oath:
This morning in Brussels, EU Tech Chief Henna Virkkunen unveiled the Cloud and AI Development Act. It's the most aggressive anti-American tech move from Europe since GDPR.
The law forces EU public sector procurement in banking, healthcare, defense, and energy to apply mandatory non-price factors favoring software and hardware built inside the EU. Microsoft Azure can be cheaper, AWS can be faster, Google Cloud can have the better model, and EU governments MUST legally prefer European alternatives.
AWS, Microsoft, and Google currently control roughly 70% of the European cloud market. Brussels is now openly targeting greater independence from US providers in cloud, AI, and semiconductors.
The largest regulatory market-share transfer in tech history is being written into law right now.
But the real story is how this happened...
On June 10, 2025, a man almost no one outside Brussels had heard of walked into the French Senate. His name is Anton Carniaux, Director of Public and Legal Affairs at Microsoft France.
Senator Dany Wattebled asked him under oath whether he could guarantee that data belonging to French citizens, stored on Microsoft European servers, would never be transmitted to US authorities without explicit consent from the French government.
Carniaux answered honestly. He admitted he could not guarantee it, because Microsoft must comply with the US CLOUD Act regardless of where European data physically sits. One sentence of sworn testimony from Microsoft's own counsel killed every sovereign cloud defense Big Tech had spent five years building.
It became the legal foundation for the law unveiled today.
Then Trump accelerated the divorce.
January 2025 brought executive orders expanding US surveillance authorities. Vance went to Munich and attacked European democracies on stage.
The tariffs followed and so did the Pentagon's $200 million AI contract war that ended with OpenAI replacing Anthropic after Hegseth labeled it a supply chain risk. So did OpenAI's Stargate and yesterday's Trump AI Executive Order, whose Section 3 lets the White House pick which AI companies get 30-day early access to frontier models. American AI was officially declared a US government strategic asset.
Europe heard every word of it.
On May 12, Mistral CEO Arthur Mensch told the French National Assembly that Europe had 24 months to build sovereign AI infrastructure or become a permanent US VASSAL state.
And the response came fast:
April 24: Cohere acquired Germany's Aleph Alpha for $20 billion with both Germany's and Canada's digital ministers in the room at the Berlin announcement. May 30: SoftBank committed up to $87 BILLION for French nuclear-powered data centers, the largest AI infrastructure project in European history.
Yesterday: EU Parliament announced it's dropping Google for French search engine Qwant tomorrow. France ordered every government workstation off Windows and onto Linux.
Today the Cloud and AI Development Act made all of it law.
- Mistral is building a 1.4 gigawatt AI campus near Paris by 2028 with Nvidia, MGX, and Bpifrance
- SAP's EU AI Cloud, launched last November, runs on Cohere, Mistral, and SAP's own sovereign infrastructure
- McKinsey forecasts $600 billion in sovereign AI needs by 2030
None of that money is going to Silicon Valley.
The America First AI policy built a wall around the world's most regulated economy, and American companies are on the wrong side of it.
Microsoft's lawyer told the truth in a Senate hearing nobody watched. Trump turned that admission into a national security narrative while the EU turned that narrative into procurement law.
And one entire continent walked away from the American tech stack...
I was fifteen when I realised my mother's sadness was not a phase. She stopped cooking and going outside. Some mornings I would find her sitting in the kitchen, staring at nothing, still in the same clothes from the day before. I became the adult in our house without anyone asking.
I cooked, cleaned, and made sure my younger brother ate before school. I checked on her before bed every night and left a glass of water on her bedside table because she often forgot to drink. I did all of this while attending school, writing exams, and trying to seem like a normal teenager.
Nobody at school knew. I laughed the loudest in class, was voted most likely to succeed, and teachers called me mature for my age. They had no idea maturity had been forced on me by circumstances, not chosen. I was not mature. I was just a child with no option to be one.
My mother got better slowly over two years with therapy, medication, and time. The day she cooked dinner for the first time and called us to eat, I sat at the table and cried into my food. She thought they were happy tears. They were, but also years of exhaustion finally finding a way out.
I am an adult now and still check on her every day, not out of fear but out of love forged in the hardest years of both our lives. If you know a child who seems too mature, too responsible, too okay, look closer. Sometimes they are carrying things no child should carry alone.
BREAKING: NPA has lifted the suspension of the State Prosecutor Mkhuseli Ntaba.
He was the first prosecutor in the #JoeSibanyoni matter.
Ntaba was suspended after then Chief Magistrate Tuleta Tonjeni found Ntaba in contempt and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Ntaba can now return to work.
The NPA is still awaiting a final report but the interim report suggests that Ntaba did speak of his Saftey & other concerns.

I had 20 patients in my Pediatric War Injuries Clinic today, for follow-up care.
Of the 20 children, Israel had killed one or both parents of 19 of them.
I got hit by the storm today. 🌧️
The HOKAs that have carried me for the past 1,000km are drenched, and so are the rest of my clothes. The challenge is that I still have about 200km left to walk before reaching Cape Town.
If you know someone at HOKA, Adidas, Nike, Brooks, or any other running brand who can help me get across the finish line, please holla. If you don’t, please tag them.
For those who don’t know, I’m currently walking from Durban to Cape Town through my Walk For Home campaign to raise awareness about South Africa’s housing crisis while funding my Harvard education.
I may be soaked, but I’m still moving forward. 😅😂🇿🇦

Whenever the poor are turned against the poor, while the real architects of hunger, deprivation, unemployment, inequality and social collapse walk free, always ask one question: who is funding it?
Who is paying for the buses, taxis, T-shirts, sound systems, posters and other logistics?
The working class must never become weapons against itself while those responsible for corruption, austerity, exploitation and economic destruction hide in the shadows untouched.
KUWAIT: Horrible scenes from Kuwait International Airport after #Iran drone and missile attack hit terminal. At least one killed, 8 injured, flights suspended
In Bellville, a woman listed a couch on Facebook Marketplace for R4,500. A buyer contacted her and sounded normal, sent proof of payment, and said the money was “held” until she verified her bank account.
By 21:14, R42,870 was gone from her bank accounts. The bank said it was authenticated and they could not help her.

The history of how this came about is interesting and inspiring: from what I have read, it was a synergy of two streams of mobilisation and struggle - one inside SA and another inside the ANC in exile. Inside SA, there was the formation of GLOW in 1988 by Simon Nkoli, @bevditsie
Of the 62 people who were killed during the 2008 xenophobic attacks, 21 were South African citizens who were deemed too dark to belong. SAns were also displaced.
No one deserves to be killed, harassed or displaced because of their nationality.
