I would like to thank everyone who attended the Sheffield Restore Britain event this evening and took the time to listen to my speech.

Speaking openly about being raped as a child, and about the experiences of many others across the country, is never easy. However, these conversations are important, and we must continue to speak openly, raise awareness, and challenge the failures that have allowed such harm to occur.

I am disappointed, though not surprised, that ‘Stand Up To Racism’ attended the event and chose to hurl abuse at me and others present. For some people, this kind of behaviour can be intimidating — and that is exactly their intention. I stood my ground, and I will never back down, be silenced, or be intimidated by such behaviour.

If anything, It makes me even more determined to keep speaking out and keep fighting for change.

You can shout abuse, but you cannot silence the truth. I will continue to speak for the cause and for those who have been failed by the systems that were meant to protect them.
