In this darkly funny and deeply moving memoir, award-winning author Gary Trew recounts a childhood shaped by guilt, religious fear, RAF bases, family chaos, and a disastrous “Ten Pound Pom” migration to Australia. Perfect for fans of David Sedaris, Angela’s Ashes, The Glass Castle, and emotionally honest memoirs that balance heartbreak with British humour.

@Joyster2012@dmtoft The 70s inspired my first memoir. Mostly good, some bad and one or two downright ugly memories in Brighton & Hove. I'll scope out your book, for sure. Well done and take care.
“Fans of Educated, Angela’s Ashes, and All My Knotted-Up Life will connect with this unforgettable story of trauma, guilt, and redemption.”
“Razor-sharp wit!”
Lie That Changed Everything
At nine years old, Gary Trew told a lie and swore it on his father’s life.
Then he dreamed his father would die.
Years later, when that nightmare came true, the guilt never left him.
In The Lie That Changed Everything: The Memoir of a Little Rascal, award-winning memoirist Gary Trew delivers a darkly funny, deeply moving coming-of-age story about guilt, superstition, family chaos, and survival.
Set between RAF life in Britain, a disastrous Ten Pound Pom adventure in Australia, and a turbulent childhood shaped by fear, humour, and working-class resilience, this memoir balances heartbreak with razor-sharp wit.

This is pure and simple police brutality. An absolute over use of power. There are multiple strikes with shields, punches thrown and kicks to a person already under control.
Every one of those 'offices' needs to be suspended, investigated and possible sackings.
The man should come forward, we need to know what injuries were sustained and sue the police, then the home secretary.
