C’est une interprétation ultra généreuse. Le but explicite et admis de Nolan est une propagande immigrationiste (Zeus’s law).
Et le but non explicite est de pousser un narratif féministe en changeant l’histoire originale :

- Monologue de Pénélope : Elle critique le patriarcat et revendique le trône face à Télémaque (absent chez Homère).
- Calypso : Transformée en femme aimante et guérisseuse au lieu d’une ravisseuse (inversé par rapport à Homère).
- Circé : Victime des violences masculines plutôt que sorcière dangereuse et puissante.
- Hélène et Clytemnestre : Plus victimes d’hommes abusifs, avec moins de responsabilité personnelle.
- Servantes infidèles : Épargnées ou traitées comme victimes (au lieu d’être exécutées pour trahison chez Homère).
- Ulysse : Homme brisé, coupable et « compliqué » au lieu du héros rusé et fier.
- Fin du film : Abdication et exil volontaire par culpabilité (au lieu du retour triomphal et du rétablissement du pouvoir).
- Motivation d’Ulysse : Culpabilité de guerre et pénitence au lieu du retour vers Pénélope et sa maison.
- Épisodes comme le Cyclope : Soulignent la stupidité ou la violence gratuite masculine plutôt que l’intelligence héroïque.
