Half of my YouTube recommendations are just this sort of thing nowadays, and next to fake AI-voiceover "nostalgia" channels, it is by far the lowest-effort slop on the entire platform designed solely to chase views and offer very little of substance.

I'm not gonna mention who makes a lot of these, since I get the feeling many of you already know.

But I do wonder if in a month from now he magically comes up with a video called "The Crazy Childhood of Jeremy Clarkson" that's 15 minutes long and covers the same material I did.

Trust me when I say this; I genuinely did not realise that was the hotel I was staying at until I double checked the address and recognised "Dolomite Avenue", before everything else very suddenly clicked into place.

And on the whole, I had a wonderful time.

To try and bring my spirits up after a miserable Summer, I went to Birmingham for the yearly Classic Car Show. Whilst there, I finally got to see Richard Hammond in-person! Sadly no autographs; he was only signing bottles of his new whisky, but there's always next year...

That town name might ring a bell; it's where Triumph vehicles used to be manufactured, and in fact the hotel was even built on the grounds of said factory!

What's more, it appeared in an episode of Top Gear; Series 10, Episode 7, during the British Leyland challenge.

Not so much a fun fact, but surely interesting to note; the image Jeremy Clarkson used in his Instagram post in tribute to Willson is one I edited and posted to the internet back in 2019 from a mid-1990s Top Gear Magazine supplement titled "Action!"

News that is perhaps pertinent to long-term Top Gear fans like myself is of course the fact Tim Davie is GONE from the company in the wake of its latest scandal!

It's such a shame that it very shortly followed a very sad piece of news; Quentin Willson's unexpected passing, and on the same month as the 20th anniversary of Richard Burns' equally sad departure no less. They are both dearly missed.
