I live in Illinois
My governor, who I sure as hell didn’t vote for, just signed a tax on every crypto transaction I make
The same Governor that has raised taxes 61x while Illinois has the highest property and state tax in the country
The Digital Asset Tax Act (DATA), buried inside a $56 billion budget bill was added last-minute too
0.2% on every exchange, transfer, or custody activity
Every
single
transaction
The tax hits transactions not gains so you could lose money on a trade and still owe these criminals
The Crypto Council for Innovation called it "the most punitive digital asset tax in the country" and they're right
No state in America taxes stock trades, bond trades, or derivatives this way. Zero.
This only applies to crypto in which these clowns understand zero about
Welcome to the most crypto hostile state in America💀
🤣 🤣 🤣 Wow @JulianaStratton & @GovPritzker really do think we are a bunch of retards in Illinois. I guess in their mind, if they keep repeating the same bullshit lies day after day people will actually believe them. It's called illusory truth effect. Sorry but it's not going to work, we live here, we know.
@JulianaStratton must be high 😂 I guess it's election season and what better way to get votes by promising something that will never happen 😉👍 Unless, she wants Illinois to lose more jobs and raise costs in Illinois?! But... she has been doing that already for the last several years of her "career" in Illinois, so I guess it doesn't matter to her 🙄
When California increased their minimum wage to $20 per hour McDonalds began replacing their cashiers with kiosks. Some businesses raised their menu prices while others laid off workers. Kids no longer got after school jobs.
Now Juliana Stratton wants to increase the minimum wage even higher to $25 per hour if she is elected to the US Senate
Anyone who understands basic business economics (which Democrats do not) understands that when you raise your cost of labor to a level that you have to price your food or services beyond market price, you lay off employees, find substitute options to employees, or close the business
You may not know much about Don Tracy who is Stratton’s opponent in the Illinois US Senate race, but you have learned enough about Juliana Stratton to know that she is the wrong candidate to elect.
@GovPritzker Just stop, you fat lying prick. You have done NOTHING to make our lives better. What you can do to make our lives better, get out of Illinois!
We're not morons. Indiana is WAY cheaper to live in and still is, which they already have a NFL team. @JBPritzker implemented 57 tax hikes while we HAD a NFL team, with more taxes coming next year! He made sure though to budget hundreds of millions more in taxpayers $$ for illegals in his " balanced budget" 🙄 Get this loser out of Illinois!
@Tim_Walz BS investigation club you say.. Let me guess, this was also just another "BS investigation" while you looked the other way for how many years!?👇👇
@Loves2Rock96@libsoftiktok@GavinNewsom For years he's been the laughing stock of the nation for how shitty he has been running his state. I can't believe he actually thinks he has a chance of being president 😂 🤡
.@GovPritzker is proving once again why he's the tax king. His latest budget includes $800 million in new taxes, and now he's even trying to tax fantasy sports. Illinois families are taxed out. #twill
The Chicago Teachers Union is demanding a massive expansion of its “sustainable community schools” model even though the data proves it is an objective failure.
@CTULocal1 activists imagine these schools as community hubs with wraparound services. But we now have the numbers from the original eight high schools that adopted this model in 2018.
And the results are atrocious:
>Math proficiency is sitting at just 8% for 11th graders.
>Reading proficiency is at 18% (compared to the 40% @ChiPubSchools average).
>A shocking 71% of students are chronically absent, missing 10% or more of the year.
You would expect this model to be underfunded, but the opposite is true: Spending per student at these eight schools is 15% higher than the districtwide average.
Taxpayers are funding a premium price tag for a system that is failing Chicago's most vulnerable students. And as a result, parents are fleeing the system altogether. Enrollment at these specific schools has collapsed by 25% since 2018.
Too many young people are starting to wonder if the American Dream is still within reach.
I refuse to accept that.
Illinois should be a place where young families can build careers, buy homes, raise children, and plan for the future.
That's worth fighting for.
Meanwhile Obama's Presidential Center,
"So many of our black contractors are complaining they have not got their money. A lot of the black community and newspapers do not know."
.@GovPritzker did not "eliminate" his planned gas tax hike, of course. He delayed it until after his election.
What makes this lazily fallacious tweet even more egregious is the fact that Pritzker has quietly squeezed Illinois drivers every year since 2019, and he made it so state lawmakers don't even have to cast a vote to make it happen!
In addition to doubling the state gas tax from 19 to 38 cents that year, he also implemented yearly inflationary gas tax increases that occur every July automatically.
There is no expiration date on these tax hikes. By 2056, the statewide gas tax could exceed $1 per gallon, which is five times higher than before Pritzker took office. Meanwhile, lawmakers get to avoid casting unpopular votes, dodging accountability from taxpayers entirely.
Not to mention, federal data shows fewer Illinois roads are considered "acceptable" now than in 2015, before these massive hikes began.
Who is still falling for this stuff?
