Close to 8,000 schools across the country reported zero student enrolment, with the highest being in West Bengal (3,812) and Telangana (2,245), according to a Niti Aayog report. Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir recorded 13 and 146 such schools, respectively.
Kudos! But cleanliness is an issue across Bihar. Come to Darbhanga, Madhubani, it’s the same everywhere. And this isn’t just an administrative failure. People are equally responsible, maybe even more.
Why can’t shopkeepers keep the area outside their shops clean? Why do panwalas not keep dustbins beside their stalls? Yes, the authorities must act. But shouldn’t there also be basic civic sense and awareness among people?
I think what’s happened in Tamil Nadu is fascinating.
