Most people become idols for the spotlight, but Nanami Hashimoto did it for her family.
After growing up in a home where the water and electricity were often cut off due to unpaid bills, Nanami joined Nogizaka46 with one goal: to clear her family’s debt and pay for her brother’s education.
At age 23, the moment her brother graduated and the final debt was paid, she did the unthinkable. She walked away from fame at the absolute height of her career, retiring from the entertainment industry to live as an "ordinary person".
Fellas, imo the solution is the current Nogizaka46 and Ikorabu compromise system
The era of bazillion consecutive centers is over. But you also still need one member as the face of the whole movement to concentrate GP attention
Like Nogizaka: sure, you have Nagi as the main face of the current Nogizaka46. She gets the center role every few singles or so to cement her role. But hell yeah, if Sakutan, Miku, Teresa, Aruno, Mao, or Mitsuki or anyone else want to be the center, that would be awesome too. But still, Nagi will remains the face
Same with Ikorabu. You have Maika as the center for the majority of the time, but you can also pivot to others to develop their talent and choose them as center
An absolute consecutive center system will not work. Even Nogi knows this, which is why they still put Nagi at the center every other single or two
But saying that spreading the field of center or the face of the group equally will work does us no good, since we already had that experience after 2019
As I said before, you can oppose the notion of an "absolute center" (because it is a disaster ) without allowing the other disaster to happen just because it seems less bad
Saying that we need to spread the center position because of we're afraid of the absolute center disaster is like trying to mitigate only the tsunamis when you have already experienced both the aftermath of a tsunami and an earthquake. You have to mitigate both cases
The compromise would get us:
- One recognizable face for the general public.
- But centers can rotate so other members still develop and get spotlight
[IF AKB48 USED NOGIZAKA46 SENBATSU SYSTEM]
In my previous thread, I mentioned that Nogizaka46 has one of the most robust regeneration systems among all Akimoto Yasushi idol groups. They have consistently managed successful regeneration and stayed relevant up to this day
I will not go deep into Nogizaka46 regeneration here because that would take too long. However, one key factor in their regeneration is how they choose the right senbatsu lineup for baton passing
Below, I will explain based on my understanding of Nogizaka46 how this system would manage AKB48 current senbatsu and its regeneration
