Hello @DougBurgum I am a citizen of American Samoa, and I would like to understand why, in 125 years as a U.S. territory, not a single gubernatorial veto has ever been overridden.

Under our current system, when the sitting Governor vetoes a bill, it returns to the Fono (Senate and House) for a two-thirds vote.

If the vote is successful, the bill is then sent to your office (Secretary of the Interior) for final approval. However, in our entire history, no Governor veto has ever been overturned.

This has effectively granted our local Governors extreme power over the Fono.

If the Fono does not fully comply with the Governor’s wishes, the Governor has the ability to threaten vetoing every single bill for the duration of their 4-to-8-year term, knowing full well that the veto will never be overridden.

This dynamic has essentially turned our Governors into absolute rulers and kings during their time in office and has been abused by many past Governors.

I respectfully urge you to look into this issue and explore ways to ensure a true balance of power among all branches of government (Governor, senate, and house) in American Samoa.

Shame on San Jose State University and the Mountain West Conference for allowing a male to play on their women's volleyball team.

America is praying these teams win their lawsuits against SJSU and the MWC.

America supports you and is rooting for you to win your lawsuit against this woke conference.

Americas young daughters work tirelessly all their lives to compete at the highest level and play a sport they love.

But their dreams are being shattered by this woke agenda.

Stop this madness and stop allowing males to participate in women's sports.

Let me start with this: Trump was once a Democrat, Elon was once a Democrat, I was once a Democrat -RFK, Jr., was once a Democrat. What we all found is that the Democratic party was no longer about the working class. They were about the Social Elites, Hollywood and Lobbyists. They are no longer the party I grew up with and even campaigned for in the past. My last was Hillary when she ran against Obama in 2008. She treated the people campaigning for her horribly in the end. Then came Obama, who spoke about community organizing and social justice - that is when I knew he wanted to take the Democratic party to a "socialist" society. And under him, we saw "flash mobs in malls" which I believe was the firsts to see how fast they could mobilize for protests and rioting. We were all getting along racially prior to Obama - he decided to set of the racism and the rioting. Suddenly, schools became more dangerous and the economy declined with the mortgage crisis. Many people suffered because of this decline in his 8 years in Office. President Trump was elected because of this. We had the best economy and jobs until COVID-19 hit. The Dems used Covid for the lockdowns and social media to silence and control. They consistently attacked President Trump - even though when he was a Democrat - they all wanted to be around him. For years, people like Oprah wanted him to be President, as well as the Ladies of the View (the videos are out there) Personally my life and my family's life were more prosperous and safe under President Trump. This time I believe more people than ever remembered how good life was with President Trump. We don't want to be a socialist country and stand in bread lines. The Democrats far-left wanted open borders to bring illegals in to anoint citizenship to vote for them. It almost worked until Nov. 5, 2024, when our rightful President Trump was finally Re-elected as the 47th President of the USA. We are I do not believe we will ever be Democrats or Republicans as they have been known ever again. We are now the MAGA/MAHA UNITY PARTY, filled with sane people from Dems/Repub/ and Independents who all have one simple goal to make America the Safest, Healthiest, Prosperous, and Greatest Country in the world. We are open and accept all. We are Straight, Gay, Black, White, Asian, Latino, Indian - you can find us all here - and if that is what you also want for America you will find love and acceptance with us. We don't hate or protest or burn cities to the ground. We all want better lives and affordable futures for ourselves, our families, and our kids. That's what President Trump brings - Unity and Peace through Strength around the world.
