@The1TBLF@Fullcourtpass In the end, it’s always going to be mostly Knicks fans. What Brooklyn needs is a homegrown star to bring that excitement, and to bring in new fans. I wasn’t happy they got the 6th pick, but was super happy the selected MBJ at 6. We’ll see how he plays, and his game develops.
@The1TBLF@Fullcourtpass The Nets have never had the biggest fanbase, and especially when you move to Brooklyn in 2012, in a city with Knicks fans. Fans from Jersey will still come to games, but it’s obviously still going to be mostly Knicks fans, and fans of other players and teams. It is what it is
@The1TBLF@Fullcourtpass I remember going to a playoff game in 2006, a home game against the Heat, and half the arena was cheering for the Heat. That was partly due to the popularity of Wade and Shaq, but particularly Wade that game. It is surprising because the Nets still had Vince Carter and JKidd.
@The1TBLF@Fullcourtpass It is mostly Knicks fans, they have been around for 80 years, were one of the original teams. The Nets moved to Brooklyn in 2012. So of course there are going to be more Knicks fans, and the Nets fanbase has never been that large, at least not in this country…
@The1TBLF@Fullcourtpass That’s fine you were a Nets fan only because of KD and Kyrie. When you ask if the Nets really have fans though, it’s just trying to get a rise out of some fans, when obviously the Nets do have fans. It’s an absurd question that serves no point.
@brooklynnets85 We don’t necessarily need a superstar, especially one who doesn’t fit the timeline of this young core. I do think adding more young pieces with upside is worth it though if possible, like Peyton Watson and Trey Murphy for example. Getting as much young talent as possible.
@NetsPressIG I’ve disagreed with NetsPress quite a bit recently, including him being so high on Acuff, when I was hoping the Nets drafted MBJ at 6, assuming he was still there. I do think adding more young talent is worth it though, like Watson, Murphy. And worry about fit later.
@NetsDaily I love the draft picks this year. My only concern, although it’s a big concern is the sophomores. It’s still early, but out of all the 5 picks last year, only Egor has really shown something.Need at least 1 or 2 of the others to become role players, or at least rotational players
@NetsDaily The Nets should be near the bottom, it’s ok though. It would be nice to make 1 more consolidation move, to acquire one more young player with upside that would fit the timeline. The offseason moves were decent though, and what’s most important is continuing to build.
@JonMetler If they overachieve, which they did last year with Schroeder when they were tanking, and traded him very fast because of it, and now have the talent and depth the Nets do,I could see them as a 10th seed if things go right, depending on injuries, possibly even a higher play in seed
@JonMetler 15.5 is crazy if that’s what it still is. Jordi is a really good coach, and has so much to work with now. The Nets are obviously not championship contenders, depending on how MBJ performs, leaps from Egor and other sophomores, obviously adding Randle, Ellis, could even be a 10 seed
@SacramentoFan33 You can feel MBJ’s impact in all of those categories. His impact is felt when he doesn’t have the ball, as he can play off ball equally as well as he can play on ball.Mikel doesn’t need to be ball dominant but he can be. His defense surprised me the most. Acuff will still be fine
@standdown4trout@Fullcourtpass@itsAntWright Big mistake passing on MBJ, as Nets fans we appreciate it! Somewhat joking as it’s way too early. Plus Wagler will be playing alongside Garland, and his role will be much different. Those 2 should be a good fit together.
@vStoiQ This has to be a huge mental block. Not that Powell will ever become a star, but he’s even been smoking layups. He needs to see a sports psychologist and get his mental right. That is probably more of a priority. This is beyond just needing to work on his game.
@NetsPressIG Based on our current roster, you have most likely Mikel, Egor, MPJ, Randle and Dayron as the projected starting lineup as of now. There is no one he should be starting over. You would have to bench Egor or Mikel which is our future, and would be absurd to bench either one of them
@NetsPressIG Dylan, you used to have great takes, I don’t know what happened. You said there was no metric for drafting Mikel over Acuff, but discounting what Mikel did in high school and FIBA though. Watson makes no sense because we have MPJ atm. So Watson wouldn’t even start.
@BillyReinhardt I actually see some early Dame in him. As well as a combination of Lamello and Haliburton too. You could throw CJ in as well with more athleticism. To me in the summer league game, as I said early Dame is what stood out to me as his best comp.
