Staying home with small kids, getting little work done, with toys from one end of the house to another, your days now clanging with background music of squabble, whinge, and whine? I wrote something that may help... https://t.co/wpbFPmJH8R
@bysarahayoub Oh gosh, totally understand that situation :) We’re paying $190 a week for allied health sessions as we need to be been straight away. We’ve managed to get approval for funding for 5 sessions but like you I’ve been wondering how others manage the cost or the wait :(
@adamliaw It’s because our public schools need to fundraise for basic facilities. I’m exhausted from a day of helping out and weeks of preparation. Trying to look at the upside that I spent a day with fabulous, kind, hard-working parents and that our kids see community spirit in action.
@thespecialbka @fransi1803 Oh yes, that’s right there’s the WA Telethon, too. It’s a pretty sad state of affairs with funding for paediatric health relying on fundraising :(
@fransi1803 @thespecialbka The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation raises funds for Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The annual Gold Dinner is a major fundraiser which has helped fund things such as medical and allied health staff positions.
@AntoniaKennedyP @thespecialbka I’m really sorry to hear of your friend’s loss. The financial situation may be actually even worse than that though. I heard that McDonalds paid the for the establishment of the buildings but the day to day running of things is reliant on fundraising.
@sophiebeerdraws Hehe! Be prepared for the next level… my daughter learnt from a very young age to make eye contact to engage with cafe staff to ask for another!
@Loud_Lass 2/2 (where religious folk with certificate-level studies in chaplaincy or youth work are hired for chaplain roles) but I can apply for a school counsellor role in the Catholic school system if I am a member of a church and vouch to uphold their beliefs in my work.
@Loud_Lass 1/2 Get this for a plot twist, I am a university-qualified social worker with a Masters degree in counselling and 16 plus years of therapeutic work with children in a clinical context. I am *not* eligible to apply for a school counsellor job in the NSW public school system…
@lukebuckmaster @JonAppleton Yes, they would have been awesome on screen! I was part of a computer project in primary school and after we read the books I remember my teacher setting up a computer so I could send an email to Gillian Rubinstein. It was 1990!! 🤯
@JonAppleton Hehe, no but I actually did get to chat with her at a group dinner a couple of months later! And it’s so lovely now to connect with people who also read this book in childhood.
@JonAppleton This is one of my favourite books from childhood! I still have my copy from the 80s and even scored a copy for my daughter in a street library! Then there was the Zoom meeting I was in and I realised Patricia Bernard was there, too. Cue the post-meeting fan-girling 😂
