Ewes holding condition well despite working hard on the hill block behind electric fences. Deferred grass used up so singles back up on silage while the twins/trips head onto swedes for 5 wks.

Busy week at Southfield. 154 ewe lambs through the PAC trailer, 138 lambs CT scanned @SRUC, 1,200 ewes weighed, CS, fluke dosed and rams pulled out after one cycle. Also hosted 40 farmers from @FarmingConnect Welsh Sheep Genetics Programme.

Busy couple of weeks at home, calves are weaned, cows are PD’d and annual blood testing is done. Weaning efficiency averaged 40% (including 2 year old cow and calf weights). Ready for winter now!

@beefshorthorn They are just getting ad lib silage in a ring on a dry hilltop 👍 when we are feeding costly silage we are trying to get the best utilisation we can so we are avoiding feeding on the ground where possible.

Growing cow herd are wintering away outside. They finished up deferred grazing on 15th Jan, and have gone onto ad lib silage 👍 Grass is starting to grow, will get them on their pre-calving rotation in the next 4 weeks. #outwintered #sucklers
