๐ 4 AI Trends Reshaping APAC Ecommerce in 2026
In Asia-Pacific, AI isn't the future of shopping โ it's already in the cart. Shoppers want it: 81% expect retailers to offer AI-powered tools (DHL, 2025), and 74% already use AI to discover and research products (Visa, 2026).
The shift runs deepest in emerging markets, where over 50% of shoppers in China, India, Indonesia, and Thailand now use genAI to shop online (NIQ, 2026).
The shoppers have moved. The only question is whether your store has. Here are the 4 trends reshaping ecommerce across APAC ๐
1๏ธโฃ Autonomous Shopping Agents
Bots will check out for your customers, searching, comparing, and completing purchases on their behalf.
2๏ธโฃ Hyper-personalized Storefronts
One store, a million versions. Every visitor sees a storefront tailored just for them.
3๏ธโฃ Conversational Product Discovery
Search becomes a chat. Customers find what they want by talking, not scrolling.
4๏ธโฃ AI-generated Creative at Scale
100 ad variants in minutes. Spin up endless on-brand creative without the bottleneck.
Sellers who adopt early will pull ahead, those who wait will play catch-up. Swipe through for how to apply each one to your store today.
These are exactly the topics we'll dig into at ShopX 2026.

21,000 app listings. But the real Shopify App Store is much smaller than it looks.
After analyzing the entire Shopify App Store, our founder uncovered an interesting reality:
๐ Only ~768 apps are verifiably active
๐ Top 500 apps capture 99.7% of all reviews
๐ Most apps compete in crowded categories, while several high-value niches remain underserved
The takeaway? Building for Shopify in 2026 is still a huge opportunityโbut winning requires solving real merchant problems, not creating another copycat app.
At GemPages, that's exactly the mindset we bring to every product we build: helping merchants grow revenue with tools that deliver real business impact.

Should you still build a Shopify App in 2026? What 21,000 catalog slugs say ๐
I crawled the entire Shopify App Store with a tool I vibe-coded. Here's what the data actually says ๐งต
- Only ~768 apps are verifiably alive
- ~10,600 apps have ZERO reviews (zombie listings)
- Top 500 apps capture 99.7% of all reviews
- 86% of priced apps cost under $30/mo - yet only 8 apps charge $100+
It means you're really competing with ~1,600 serious apps and ~150 real incumbents.
So - is there still room? Yes. Here are some wide open lanes in 2026:
โ Shopify Plus apps priced $99+/mo (47k+ merchants, barely any premium tools)
โ Orders & Shipping (lowest ratings = most unhappy customers)
โ Agentic post-purchase support (AI that works end-to-end, not just a chatbot label): Highest-rated category, smallest competitive pool, and the area where AI agents make the most economic sense.
โ Non-English market apps (Japanese, German, French merchants are underserved): Localized apps for non-English markets. Fewer than a dozen apps tagged with non-US/UK origin that also serve non-English merchants well.
What I would NOT start in 2026: a new review app, a new generic popup app, a new generic dropshipping app, a new "AI product description writer".
Key takeaway? The App Store isn't over. It's just much smaller and sharper than the headline number suggests!

Your advertorial probably isn't failing because of the words. It's failing because of how they're arranged.
We've gone through 10,000 of them across beauty, health, home, and gadgets to find out what separates the pages that convert from the ones that get scrolled past.
๐ Here's the truth: high-converting advertorials don't rely on "beautiful writing" or being a natural storyteller. They follow specific rules rooted in how modern buyers actually think and decide.

Hi @maxwobst,
We'd love to take a closer look at your specific case. Mobile speed can be affected by many factors beyond the page builder itself, such as theme setup, third-party apps, custom code, images, and page content.
Please reach out to our Customer Success team via live chat and share your store URL along with the page(s) you're concerned about. We'll be happy to review them and provide recommendations to help improve performance.
Thanks for sharing your store! ๐
We're glad to see GemPages being part of your setup for the product page. The combination of Horizon for your core pages, GemPages for product page customization, and RAPI for bundles sounds like a thoughtful approach.
Wishing you the best with your launch! If you ever need help optimizing your product pages for better conversions, feel free to reach out to our team via live chat, we'd be happy to help. ๐
Thanks for sharing your workflow! For the original question, duplicating products isn't the only option in GemPages.
Many merchants use dedicated Landing Pages connected to the same product to test different messaging or layouts without affecting the live Product Page or creating duplicate products.
We're also curious about your move to a custom Liquid + Claude setup. Was there a specific reason or challenge that led you to switch?
We'd love to learn more and gather your feedback. Feel free to share here or reach out via live chat anytime. ๐
Hi there! Thanks for bringing this up, we can definitely understand why duplicating products might feel messy when you're simply trying to test different offers.
At the moment, GemPages supports A/B testing for templates (layout/design) through GemX, but it doesn't support A/B testing different offers.
If your goal is to test different offer angles without affecting the original product page, the cleanest approach is usually to use a Landing Page:
โข Create a Landing Page in GemPages (instead of a Product Page)
โข Add a Product block and connect it to the product you want to test
โข The Landing Page gets its own URL, so you can send test traffic directly there while keeping your original Product Page unchanged
โข No need to duplicate products, which means inventory, fulfillment, and reporting remain unaffected
This approach is commonly used when testing different messaging, page structures, or offer presentations while keeping store operations clean and organized.
We hope this helps! If you have any questions or would like guidance on setting this up, feel free to reach out to our Customer Success team via live chat, or send us a message through GemPages' channels. We'd be happy to assist further. ๐
๐ [Case Study] +11.7% AOV From A Single Upsell
"GemPages is very simple to use; all we did was configure a few settings, and it was ready to go." - Tina S, Founder of Tutti Kids.
Tutti Kids, an Australia's first kids' nutritional hydration brand, fell into the trap most ecom brands do: they knew upselling was key to growing revenue, but every tool felt too complicated to actually ship.
So they kept it simple. They featured their best-seller, the Rainbow Box, as a post-purchase upsell at 25% off, an easy "yes" for customers who already had buying intent. The result: AOV climbed from $60 to $67.
