This is typical playbook.

🚨 *EMERGENCY: CONCERNS ABOUT CAMPUS SECURITY, POLITICAL MOBILISATION, AND THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT AT IIT BOMBAY*🆘
Yesterday's incident at the main gate of @iitbombay has raised serious concerns about campus security, the politicisation of student protests, and the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff, and other campus residents.
Yesterday, some individuals from outside the institute allegedly attempted to enter the campus. There are also concerns that certain individuals associated with the ongoing protest seeking justice for Sahil invited external political figures, including Varsha Gaikwad, a Congress MP, to the campus. Meanwhile, other political organisations have reportedly organised demonstrations outside the main gate.
These developments raise two fundamental questions: Who is driving the political mobilisation around the campus?, and what are its consequences for campus security, the academic environment, and the everyday lives of IIT Bombay students?
1. Who is contributing to the politicisation of the campus?
Some students participating in the ongoing protest are associated with political student organisations, including NSUI, AISA, AISF, SFI, and other political or local groups. Their involvement raises questions about whether the protest is remaining focused on its stated objective of seeking justice for Sahil or whether broader political interests are increasingly shaping its direction.
Every student has the right to express their concerns peacefully and seek justice. However, it is equally important to ensure that a sensitive issue does not become an instrument for political mobilisation that disrupts the academic life and normal functioning of the institute. Recent developments risk turning our campus into a site of political confrontation and external interference.
2. What are the consequences for campus security and student life?
First, campus security has become a serious concern.
Yesterday, we observed several alleged attempts by individuals from outside the institute to enter the campus by jumping over its boundary wall. This is alarming. Many students are concerned about their safety, and some have already left the campus because of these concerns.
Second, repeated gate closures and restrictions are creating uncertainty about the institute's normal functioning.
Important institutional events, academic programmes, professional interactions, and other planned activities may have to be postponed or cancelled because of uncertainty about the security situation. This could also discourage companies and other external organisations from visiting the campus. Many students have previously benefited from direct interactions with company representatives and human resources personnel at such events, helping them secure internships and employment opportunities. As these activities are repeatedly disrupted, students risk losing valuable opportunities through no fault of their own.
Third, the continuing uncertainty is affecting students' academic lives.
Several students have expressed concern that repeated protests at the main gate, sudden closures, and uncertainty about what might happen next are creating an atmosphere of anxiety. When students repeatedly face restrictions and disruptions in their daily routines, it becomes difficult to concentrate on coursework, research, examinations, and other academic responsibilities.
The current situation is making it increasingly difficult for some students to maintain their academic routines.
Fourth, students are facing difficulties entering their own campus.
Some students have reportedly been unable to enter their own campus through the main gate because of the ongoing protests. This is particularly concerning. Students who reside on campus or need to enter it for classes, laboratory work, research, and other essential activities should not have to face uncertainty about their access to the institute.
The Spectre of Left Hijacking IIT Bombay by Weaponising Caste.
Director Shirish Kedare met these intellectuals few days back. And they are doing this chakkajam right now.
Non-academia post: Hardik Dave’s business partner for Garba organising is Khantil Mehta. This is why no opposition from BJP on comparison with Nazi Germany.
Hardik Dave compares the present Gujarat with the Nazi Germany.
And guess who promotes his programs on social media?
BJP Gujarat leaders. Just check social media of Hardik Dave.
Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad and Aslam Shaikh entered campus of IIT Bombay. They are now creating Ruckus.
Congress is dismantling premier institution and what is BJP doing?
One doesn’t know how Proud As Bhumihar I feel when he openly names and and Threatens my Community to Peel of Skins of Bhumihar and Brahmins. Despite being a Micro Minority when this Marathi Mahar Threatens to Peel of Skins of Bhumihars and Brahmins.
Since he claims to be from Mahar Community let me tell you and give you a Historical Perspective and Recall a Story. Mahars claim to be Martial Race but they are not Bigger Martial Race than the GORKHAS. During the British Colonial Period when Riots between BHUMIHARS and MUSLIMS took place in Diyara Area of Bihar and Enormous numbers of Muslims were killed in the Riots the Britishers sent the GORKHA SOLDIERS of BRITISH INDIAN ARMY to protect the Muslims. The BHUMIHARS of Diyara Area Slit the Throats of GORKHA SOLDIERS of British Indian Army and offered it to Maa Kali.
I’m not Provoking here for any Violence or any Instigation but just a Simple message to this Self Obsessed Asshole, do your Politics in Maharashtra and if your Politics is against Untouchability then preach Equality and don’t instigate violence or else in front of our Hybrid Warfare Strategy you Won’t be able to Stand for a Second.
Symbiosis has become a hunting ground for Jihadi professors. Rumours say that 25 girls were involved in sexual relations by one Jihadi professor. Police should verify this allegation seriously.
As a Meitei, I am appalled by the responses of a section of Meiteis who support Prof. Bimol Akoijam, many of them women, to the sexual-harassment case involving him.
Political loyalty must never blind us to the gravity of sexual harassment. A society that takes pride in its culture, heritage, history and traditions should have zero-tolerance for sexual harassements & offences, more so when they arise in a university, where students depend on teachers for grades, guidance, recommendations and academic futures.
Those defending him have largely produced noise: allegations of a witch-hunt, leaks, media trials, BJP-RSS conspiracies, and whataboutery about politicians elsewhere. None of this changes the two core facts.
ONE: At least 11 women students filed complaints of sexual harassment.
TWO: The IC conducted an inquiry and found the allegations to be true.
The allegations were serious: sexually suggestive remarks during classes and viva-voce examinations, inappropriate advances at gatherings at his on-campus residence, unwelcome physical contact, and offers of higher marks in exchange for sexual favours.
❗️VERY IMPORTANT FACT HERE: The inquiry was conducted by JNU’s all-women IC that comprises a Presiding Officer, faculty representatives, an officer representative, a staff representative, an external NGO representative, and student representatives from PhD, PG and UG levels. This was not a random, informal body or a personal verdict of the VC; it is the institutional body created by the Executive Council to examine such complaints.
It has been reported that the student representatives declined to sign the recommendation. But nuance matters: their dissent was reportedly over the quantum of punishment, not over the truth of the allegations. Disagreement over dismissal does not erase the committee’s finding of misconduct.
Now consider the questions his supporters keep raising:
❓️Isn't it a political witch-hunt?
Even if true, it would not make an established finding of sexual harassment disappear.
❓️Were not the complaints leaked?
A leak may raise a confidentiality issue, but it does not negate the complaints or the inquiry’s findings.
❓️Wasn't there a media trial?
Public debate can be unfair, but it does not alter what the Internal Committee found.
❓️Isn't BJP targeting him for raising Manipur issue in Parliament?
That may be a political grievance; it is not a defence to sexual harassment.
❓️Aren't there problematic ("nupi da choppa", "nupi lonba") BJP legislators in Manipur?
Quite possibly, but other men’s misconduct is not an alibi for his.
❓️Aren't the complainants affiliated to student organisations?
Their institutional or political links do not convert sworn allegations and an inquiry finding into nothing.
❓️Was the “sex-for-marks” allegation part of the complaints?
Yes, it was among the reported allegations; and even setting it aside, the other findings remain.
❓️Isn't the VC affiliated to the BJP or RSS?
Even if she were, the relevant question is whether the inquiry was lawful, evidence-based and properly conducted.
❓️Didn't JNU teachers’ bodies raise procedural concerns?
They may do so, and those concerns deserve attention. But procedural criticism is not proof that the complainants lied or that harassment did not occur.
Even if oja’s supporters genuinely believe the inquiry was procedurally flawed, they should not respond by attacking the complainants, inventing conspiracy theories, or demanding that an entire society suspend its conscience for the sake of a political narrative.
Put yourselves in the place of those young students. Imagine being told that your complaint is merely a political conspiracy; that your trauma is an inconvenience to someone’s electoral narrative; that your credibility must be tested against the party you may or may not support.
Chipke was saying that street belongs to them. Dumbfuck Dipke, right wingers can literally overcome you and your 4-5 footiya soldiers decisively on street. Don’t cross your lane until anarchy is your main target.
These two men are openly beating students and teenagers. One is using brass knuckles, which are classified as a prohibited weapon under the Arms Act of 1959. Yet, these RSS and BJP goons act with total impunity, seemingly backed by the @DelhiPolice Police. This is clear evidence that democracy has collapsed in India. What Gujarat faced in 2002, the rest of the nation may soon face. @neha_aisa@INCIndia@RahulGandhi
JNU terminates professor accused of sexual harassment
Prof. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam was accused of sexual harassment by 11 female students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
This should be a massive embarrassment for Congress! The JNU professor facing “sex-for-marks” allegations from a dozen women students in May has reportedly been dismissed from service. Congress MP Akoijam, too, has been dismissed.
JNU may have acted, but where were AISA and NSUI when the women needed their support? No visible outrage, no vocal solidarity. Where is @neha_aisa now?
JNU acts against alleged misconduct. Where is the accountability from those who claim to fight patriarchy? Where are 'smash the patriarchy' warriors? @RahulGandhi
Ankur, you work at BS India but you shouldn’t BS like this publicly.
In Emergency, you had people jailed for even purchasing some newspapers and talking on calls. Don’t create false equivalence when it doesn’t exist.
