A VOTE OF THANKS FOR RT. HON. SPEAKER ANITA ANNET AMONG.

Thanks to Rt. Hon. Speaker Anet Anita Among, the plight of the long suffering Ugandan Banyarwanda was tabled today in a Plenary session of Parliament.
We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the majority of Members of Parliament who were manifestly so positive and eager to support and identify with the cause of Ugandan Banyarwanda against segregation and violation of their Citizenship rights.

NIRA is well known for denying Ugandan Banyarwanda National IDs, while the Passport office denies us Passports (in fact some of our people seeking to travel abroad for medical treatment have died) and at border points, immigration officers confiscate and deactivate the National IDs of those who managed to get them, the passport office refuses to renew our passports thus rendering us STATELESSand unemployable.

The Ugandan Banyarwanda community is energized and reassured by today's tabling of our petition in the Plenary session , as well as the reference of our petition to the Parliamentary Committee on Defense, Internal Affairs and Equal Opportunities and we are very firmly reassured that we are on the right track.

At an opportune time when we are called to appear before the above Parliamentary Committee, we shall give them shocking revelations about the injustices our people go through on a daily basis.
As we advocate for our rights, isn't it absurd that during elections, Ugandan Banyarwanda are Bonafide Voters and issued voters cards but once elections are done, Ugandan Banyarwanda are labeled “Non-Ugandan” and denied their basic fundamental rights.
