GE welcomed our 2026 Summer Interns to the team this week! We kicked off the summer with lunch from Yes Chef catering, a little friendly competition, and a chance for everyone to meet the crews they’ll be learning from in the field.
This trenchless construction approach helps minimize disruption, while safely upgrading critical infrastructure for the community.

Did you know, General Excavating has a Natural Gas Distribution Department?
Our gas crews are currently replacing more than 2,500 LF of 3" and 3,000+ LF of 6" natural gas main using directional drilling beneath the streets of Wahoo, Nebraska.
Experiences like these help bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and the realities of the field.
Thank you to the UNL Construction Management students and faculty for spending the day with us. The future of construction is bright! @unl_cee
General Excavating was proud to support the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Construction Management program for a day of hands-on learning with our field professionals.
Students had the opportunity to step out of the classroom to operate heavy equipment, participate in a safety toolbox talk, and connect with industry professionals about careers in construction.
Happy Women In Construction Week!
This week we celebrated the talented, hardworking women at General Excavating. From the accounting team to working in the field, these women play a vital role in the success of GE every single day. We are proud to have them on our team.

As our underground utility crew wraps up in Ashland, Nebraska, we have successfully installed sanitary services to 25 RV Campground sites allowing for full hook-ups.
This is just a sample of the work our underground utilities division takes pride in completing. From new service installation to large-scale infrastructure projects, our team is constantly building, growing, and expanding.
At General Excavating, we know every great project starts with a solid foundation. Installing temporary soldier pile and lagging at Boys Town Hospital means being part of something bigger and supporting a place that cares for our community every day.
Temporary shoring was installed to ensure structural stability during excavation. Following the tank removal, the site was backfilled and restored with approximately 2,400 Sq Ft of new concrete, ensuring a clean and safe space for future use.
The 30,000 gallon fuel oil tank and 6,000 gallon gasoline tank were removed from the ground along with the removal and disposal of residual fuel oil and gasoline, concrete surfaces, protective bollards, a dispenser, and associated piping.
The project also entails the installation of new copper water service connections and the abandonment of the existing main. This infrastructure upgrade will allow for more reliable water service for residents!
Big things are happening in La Vista! Our crews are replacing aging cast iron water mains for the Metropolitan Utilities District. This $3.1M project includes the installation of over 9,300 LF of HDPE water main, associated valves, fittings, and hydrants.
October is Careers in Construction Month 👷♂️
