I think Halsin was removed as Isobel’s killer because it didn’t make sense, and no other canon killer was established because it was going to cause a bigger issue for the writing. But Balthazar nicely fits that hole in my headcanon! End/🧵

Ultimately, though, the background plot of Act 2 is a mess of contradictions & timeline issues. If Larian tried to establish how Isobel was killed they might have to clean it all up, which would be daunting. 5/🧵

Honestly, I hate the “lore characters.” I’m interested in telling stories about the OCs/PCs of my characters. I don’t want to have Drizzit or Vecna or whomever in my game. I delete major lore NPCs any chance I get or reskin their stat blocks into something for MY story.
