#Indigenous tribes, nations, bands and peoples of WA state are - and always have been - at the forefront of defending the planet. Here's some of what I've learned through my reporting with the Solutions Journalism Network: https://t.co/9KXMnKG6A9
"Fifty of the world’s richest billionaires on average emit more carbon through their investments, private jets and yachts in just over an hour and a half than the average person does in their entire lifetime."

A new six-part NOVA series on PBS called Legacy of the Land features short films produced by Indigenous filmmakers focused on climate issues and solutions in Native communities across the country. Here's a link to all 6 of the videos: https://t.co/6r0nVvBu39
I called Twitter "X" today for the first time in a meeting when discussing social media. The other person in the meeting burst out laughing, I think it was the first time they heard someone call it that.
When I became a writer, I thought I'd be writing all day. 🤣I do write (of course) but what am I mainly doing? Pitching, networking, invoicing, researching, sourcing, interviews, edits, tracking down late payments, going through 300-1000 emails a day... #writerslife#realtalk
For the first time in a century, salmon will swim the Klamath River. Getting rid of the dams on the river was the result of a decades-long battle led by tribes in California. https://t.co/Q7DqI0nkMO
The Klamath River now flows freely from Lake Ewauna out to the ocean with the removal of the cofferdam at Iron Gate dam! This is a huge moment that would not have been possible without leadership from the Tribes of the watershed. #FreeKlamath

The last of the four dams are being removed on the Klamath River. Workers will soon carve channels in the remnants of two dams, allowing water to flow freely along more than 40 miles of the Klamath for the first time in more than a century. @GinaFerazzi https://t.co/xZ5UbZjJx4
Here we go! Introducing Wildlife Investigative Reporters & Editors (WIRE), a new journalism nonprofit from me, @rebersole, and @OlliePayneHere to make sure important stories about exploitation of nature and animals continue to be told. https://t.co/nSpDDREOfc

Well, it's official: @hakaimagazine is ceasing publication at the end of the year because our funding is being cut. I'm incredibly sad for my colleagues, for the freelance community, for the journalism ecosystem as a whole, and for myself. Editing for Hakai has been a dream.
@NiemanLab Here's my question: When has journalism NOT been a tough career choice? I've been doing this 20 years and have never stopped hearing the recycled and regurgitated conversations about how the news industry is falling apart, the work is hard, and the rewards are few.
Fewer people are seeing a life in news as a worthwhile career.
This reflects a broader problem: relentless economic pressures are pushing people away from socially important careers. https://t.co/roX97uAEYH
My father speaking about #love:
“I think of love as something strong and that organizes itself into powerful direct action.”
Let’s get #Love right and get right with LOVE.

#TamirRice should be celebrating his 22nd birthday today. I am praying for Tamir’s family. My heart especially goes out to his mother, Samaria Rice, who can’t say “Happy Birthday” to her young adult son face to face. #SayHisName#ShiftTheCulture
The art of the #interview is the most essential, yet least-loved tool of too many #journalists. Here's to hoping we in #journalism can help keep the #media honest with many dope interviews
The art of the interview is the most skipped step in J-school, one writer pens. But it’s an essential step, and more important than ever as the press faces increased scrutiny. https://t.co/GBk7VwYC4r
