At 2:13AM, my dad got a text from a number he didn’t know.
“Please don’t block this number. I just need to say thank you.”
He almost ignored it. Thought it was spam.
Then another message came in.
“You drove me home every Friday night in 2009. You probably don’t remember me.”
I'm a dog groomer. Small shop. Appointments only.
Last year a man brought in an elderly golden retriever. The dog was matted. Nails overgrown. Clearly hadn't been groomed in months.
The man looked exhausted.
"How much for a full groom?"
I told him $85. He nodded. Pulled out his wallet. Empty except for three twenty-dollar bills. Everything he had.
He counted them twice. Put them on the counter.
"Is sixty enough?" I told him sixty was perfect. It wasn't.
Hot take:
Athletes should be able to clap back at fans with no repercussions. I don’t care how much they get paid, sports fans talk reckless knowing athletes aren’t supposed to clap back because they’ll get fined or “exposed”
