I wrote more about what it looks like to confront evil without letting it shape you into something you were never meant to become.

Somewhere along the way, society started believing we only had two options:
Hate the people doing evil, or stay quiet and pretend it isn't happening.
But Jesus never gave us that choice.
He confronted sin and wept over sinners... in the same breath.
That's the Christ-shaped third way social noise tends to drown out.
So resist evil people like Jesus did:
• Speak truth
• Protect the vulnerable
• Refuse revenge
• Leave judgment to God
• Keep your heart soft without making your spine weak
That balance is often hard for me too.
Where do you find that tension most difficult?
Resisting evil does not require hating evil people.
I used to think those two things came together.
If I stood firm, I had to stay angry.
But Jesus shows a stronger way.
Romans 12 helps here:
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
If evil can make me lie, mock, rage, or dehumanize, then evil is already shaping me.
That is how hatred wins twice.
If your body can feel drained by a few days without rest…
...then why do we think we can go days or even weeks without Scripture and still be spiritually healthy?
Could it be we’re not lacking passion for God…
...but starving ourselves from the very thing that fuels it?
“Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?” - Luke 24:32
Be honest: when was the last time God’s Word felt like that to you?
Not routine… but alive?
Began studying through Genesis with a small group of guys.
Four chapters in it's easy to walk away with more questions than you started with.
But the truth, wisdom, and answers are right there.
Because iron truly sharpens iron.
The older I get, the more convinced I am...
It's better to be helpful than politically clever.
That usually means scrolling past rage and clickbait.
That, however, is often difficult!
@jfolksie@greglaurie You’re asking a very real and important question, @jfolksie
We can love people without approving evil, and defend what's right without surrendering hatred to our hearts.
Even when it is difficult, and it often is, loving our enemies begins by entrusting justice to God.
@TrevinWax Huge takeaway: "Knowing your people means anticipating how your words will land."
Making space for the one who might need more is immensely valuable and helpful. I appreciate that insight.
@lwfministries 💯
Because God is unchanging, His word is reliable & trustworthy. He doesn't change or revise His word just because mans times change.
"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." Galatians 1.8
Jesus is not the great 'I was.'
He is the great 'I am.'
When I saw him I fell down at his feet as though I were dead, but he placed his right hand on me and said:
“Do not be afraid! I am the first and the last, and the one who lives! I was dead, but look, now I am alive - forever and ever - and I hold the keys of death and of Hades!"
Revelation 1.17-18
Mondays feel like a reset, but if you're like me you tend to carry last week's weight into it.
Before the task list raises its voice, try this: one verse, one honest prayer, one moment of stillness.
You don't need to have it all together. You just need to start rooted in the Word.
