@laflammerouge16 Decathlon are doing the same thing they did in the Giro, riding to Gall’s strength without thinking about Jonas/Pog. They’re never going to beat him, so they might as well try and optimise their podium chances by dropping as many people as possible.

@williesmurfy @BenjiNaesen Massive difference between loosing the wheel on purpose and purposefully showing someone the barrier. There’s a fine line between obstruction and race tactics in fairness, but I don’t see Visma being dangerous here. Gery purposefully went right to the kerb.

@BenjiNaesen Can people tell me what’s the difference between what happened yesterday and what Van Poppel anytime last year? Or Askey at Almeria? In both cases people are being hindered to protect their leaders. What about Christen vs Van Gils? Should Kasia have forced the issue like Maxim?

Having seen the French TV footage, Kasia Niewiadoma was right. 🤷‍♂️

FDJ-Suez' strategy was clearly for Vollering (P2) and Gery (P1) to switch positions before the corner, to have Gery slow down afterwards to open up a gap in front of her, forcing Niewiadoma to pass Gery first, and then close the gap.

Problem is, Gery lost too much speed before the corner, and Niewiadoma passes Gery mid-corner, after which Gery tries to make sure Niewiadoma can't pass, by running wide, forcing Niewiadoma to brake and relaunch on the other side.

It's like when a lead-out finishes their work, then tries to obstruct opposing sprinters. In my opinion, this is dirty.

Vollering would also crash out if she was in Kasia's position. #TDFF2026

@faustocoppi60 I still don’t understand how this keeps happening in TdP. As a pole I absolutely love this race and yet every year there is a big crash that overshadows everything. It’s not as if the roads are bad, but somehow the tour had 21 days without something of this scale happening :/

@lucxsronald Am I the only one who has been pleasantly surprised by Max Kanter? He’s been very good in the Intermediate sprints and then a 2nd and a 4th in the two sprints.

I know he had that win at P-N earlier in the season but the sprint field here is leagues better.

I will be absolutely honest…

The more I experience this Giro, the more I am disappointed with the route.

We got almost no battle between pure sprint stages because in the first stage, the road was too narrow, the third stage ok, then the uphill cobbles sprint we know how it ended, the Milan circuit we know how it ended plus too many hilly stages.

And the Ciclamino gets decided because of only three stages? I kept listening to how this Giro is better for pure sprinters than the Tour, but I don’t see it.

Then we have no chance of having a real battle for the KOM jersey as most of the points come from finishes; the same problem is at the Tour, something needs to change.

Plus only one time trial, too short mountain stages… I don’t know, so far I am not impressed at all.
