The Franklin Police Department welcomed four new police officers Friday afternoon during a swearing-in ceremony at Police Headquarters.
Police Chief Deb Faulkner administered the oath of office in front of family members, friends, and fellow officers. All four officers join the department as lateral hires, bringing prior law enforcement and public service experience to the Franklin Police Department.
The newest members of the department are:
Officer Matthew Feddeler: Feddeler was born and raised in Chicago and served eight years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Following his military service, he spent 22 years with the Tempe Police Department in Arizona, where he built an extensive career in law enforcement.
Officer Brad Petty: Originally from Hickman County, Tennessee, Petty graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in wildlife biology. He spent the past seven years serving as a game warden with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
Officer Collin Richards: A Franklin native, Richards participated in the Franklin Police Department’s Explorer Program in 2011 and 2012. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 2020 and later began his law enforcement career with the Metro Nashville Police Department in 2024.
Officer Lawrence Shelton: Shelton is a Nashville native and graduate of McGavock High School. Prior to joining Franklin, he served nearly three years with the Tennessee State University Police Department.
“We are excited to welcome these four experienced officers to the Franklin Police Department,” said Faulkner. “Each brings a unique background, valuable experience, and a commitment to public service that will strengthen our department and benefit the community we serve. We are proud they chose Franklin as the next chapter in their law enforcement careers.”
The addition of the four lateral officers reflects the department’s continued efforts to recruit experienced, highly qualified professionals dedicated to serving one of Tennessee’s safest and most vibrant communities.

Synthetic graphite is critical to U.S. energy dominance, and it was great to see how @NovonixBattery is leading the way in Tennessee to ensure we can compete with China and protect our national security.
The Franklin Police Department is proud to welcome Dede Foster as the department’s new Victim Services Coordinator, a newly created position focused on strengthening support and care for victims and witnesses of crime and traumatic events.
A Middle Tennessee native, Foster earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Lipscomb University and a master’s degree in human services from Liberty University. She brings years of experience in victim advocacy and support services to the Franklin Police Department.
Foster previously spent seven years with the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office in Nashville, where she served as a Victim/Witness Coordinator. Prior to joining the Franklin Police Department, she worked as an Advocate Supervisor for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
As Victim Services Coordinator, Foster will provide trauma-informed support and resources to individuals and families impacted by crime while serving as a liaison between victims, law enforcement officers, and community support agencies.
“This is truly a dream job for me,” said Foster. “To be able to support the community I live in and serve alongside the Franklin Police Department is incredibly meaningful.”
Foster said one of the most rewarding aspects of the role is helping individuals feel supported after traumatic incidents.
“It’s a blessing to be able to walk alongside someone after a terrible incident,” Foster said. “I want victims to know their voices matter, they are heard, and they are not alone. Our community should know there are allies here who are only a phone call away, and I want to be someone people feel comfortable reaching out to.”
Police Chief Deb Faulkner said the addition of a Victim Services Coordinator reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to compassionate policing and community support.
“Dede’s experience, compassion, and servant-hearted approach make her an outstanding addition to our department,” said Chief Deb Faulkner. “Victims of crime and trauma deserve care, dignity, and support throughout the healing process, and Dede will play a critical role in ensuring our department continues providing that level of service to the Franklin community.”
The Franklin Police Department created the Victim Services Coordinator position as part of a broader effort to strengthen victim advocacy, trauma-informed response, and holistic support services for those impacted by crime and traumatic events.
.@MariaLeeTN & I enjoyed spending time in Polk County on the Hiwassee River.
Our state’s natural beauty & rich resources are unmatched, & TN is proud to share our woods & waters with Tennesseans & visitors from across the nation.
It was a pleasure to visit @youthvillages in Shelby County to see the outstanding work they’re doing to support at-risk youth at Bill’s Place & Bower Center.
Organizations that help kids reach their full potential is exactly what our communities need.
This morning, I had the honor of attending the Williamson County Memorial Day Service.
Today, we recognize a debt we can never fully repay: the sacrifice of the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
May we never forget. 🇺🇸
On Gold Star Family Day, we honor the TN families who have endured the loss of a loved one in service to our nation.
We remain forever grateful to the brave men & women who gave their lives defending our freedoms, & we lift up their families in prayer. 🇺🇸
6 years ago, I survived major complications from cardiac surgery and got promoted to LTC in the back of a Chinook at 5,000 ft...unbelievable what has happened in 6 years- 3 years ago they were trying to court-martial me...never thought I would live to see this day- this morning I was notified I have been selected for promotion to COLONEL!
OBEY GOD AND LEAVE THE CONSEQUENCES TO HIM!!
HOLD THE LINE
You're right @MichaelLotfi. It also ignores the actual math: that same ~$4,940/year, invested at a modest 7%, becomes ~$202k in 20 years. Skip the habit and you’re at $0 extra while prices keep climbing. Inflation and $40T + debt are real problems created upstream.
This is the weirdest rebuttal Xennials always give when someone tells them to quit buying the Avocado toast. "It's only $15 a day." It's like a 5 year old's understanding of financial intelligence. That said, yes- inflation is a real problem neither party is actually truly prepared to deal with because that requires cutting spending and deregulation on a mass scale. However, this doesn't negate the fact that setting an extra $5k a year on fire so you can post pics of your Avocado toast on Insta is still STUPID. You may not be able to control the fire, but you can control pouring gasoline on it. Of course, if there's one thing we know about this generation- it's that their parents taught them zero sense of self-control/personal responsibility because, well, they are the ones that started the fire in the first place by giving us a $40T national debt and mass regulation leading to rampant inflation.
HELL YEAH!🚨HUGE WIN for election transparency in Georgia TODAY!
Fulton County Superior Court just slammed Brad Raffensperger with a Temporary Restraining Order — effective IMMEDIATELY on Election Day.
HUGE shoutout to Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, Congressman Clay Fuller, Congressman, Rich McCormick, and Senator Greg Dolezal for making this happen and to Senator Dolezol and others for filing this!!!
Poll watchers (appointed by candidates/parties) and State Election Board observers now have full access to watch tabulation, aggregation, verification, and reporting of votes at the Secretary of State’s central office, Election Night Reporting Room, and everywhere results are handled. Georgia law demands it (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-408, etc.), proceedings must be open to the public, and the Court said: no more blocking transparency.
The judge nailed it: irreparable harm if denied, public trust is everything (especially when the SoS is running in the election he’s overseeing), and this is zero burden on Raffensperger — Simple. Just follow the law.
Remember Raffensperger’s arrogant campaign response mocking Greg Dolezal and the whole lawsuit? “Buckle up Greg… you’re about to join Stacey Abrams, Joe Biden, and the New Georgia Project on the long list of people who sued me and lost.” 😂
How’s that working out, Brad? Court just proved you wrong in record time.
Transparency WINS.
Arrogance LOSES.
The people are watching.
