The catastrophic eruption of Mount #Pinatubo not only devastated the Philippines but also disrupted much of Southeast Asia, with ash clouds affecting air travel and local environments across the region.

On 15 June 1991, its largest eruption dispersed volcanic ash over an estimated 3.8 million km², impacting countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Brunei Darussalam, according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Communities near the volcano were buried under several meters of ash, while distant areas received only a trace, less than 1 millimeter.

The ash reached Manila in the afternoon of June 15, alongside the stormy weather caused by Typhoon #DidingPH (#Yunya), turning day into night. Around four millimeters of ash fell in Manila.

Around two days later, the ash from Pinatubo reached Singapore, surprising residents as a thin gray coating settled over cars and rooftops. #SEA #ashfall
