The same man who prides himself on his role in the NADECO struggle against military rule now presides over a government facing serious questions about its commitment to the very democratic freedoms he once championed.
Bola Tinubu has repeatedly been celebrated as a father of democracy. But democracy is not a title to wear when convenient. It is a principle that must be defended, especially when citizens criticize those in power.
The DSS must never become a political weapon for intimidating citizens, silencing dissent, or suppressing opposing voices. Any misuse of state security agencies for political persecution is a direct assault on constitutional freedoms.
Democracy does not end when criticism of the president begins.
The government owes Nigerians answers, accountability, and respect for their fundamental rights. No president is above the Constitution, and no citizen should lose their freedom simply for challenging those in authority.

3 people in the comments have shouted that their ancestors hunted meat to survive, but didn’t ask their ancestors why they did it and what other products came from it. So, let them eat themselves to scarcity, that’s the only way since they are adamant. Buffalo is already going extinct in Nigeria. When it’s finished, they can move on to elephants or whatever they creature they find. Their ancestors didn’t finish those animals but they want to.
Our ancestors were smarter than people of today. They didn’t attend schools to learn how to use animals for different purposes. They didn’t have electricity or internet to google answers, but they just knew that animals were better than just “meat.”
This is why many Western countries have strict laws against indiscriminate hunting and fishing.
In countries like the United States and Canada, there are designated hunting and fishing seasons. You cannot simply walk into the woods and kill any animal or go to a river and catch as many fish as you want. There are rules about which species you can hunt or catch, when you can do so, the permitted quantities, and sometimes even the size of the fish.
In certain waters, fishing is allowed, but you must release the fish back into the water unharmed. This is known as catch-and-release fishing.
Even animals killed accidentally on the road are subject to wildlife regulations. Depending on the state, you may need a permit or authorization before taking a roadkill animal home.
These laws are not just there to inconvenience people. They help prevent overhunting, protect endangered and vulnerable species, maintain healthy wildlife populations, and preserve the natural ecosystem for future generations.
As an African, the more you travel, live abroad, and experience how other societies manage their natural resources, the more you begin to appreciate why certain laws exist.
Wildlife conservation is not about stopping people from enjoying nature. It is about making sure future generations still have nature to enjoy.
Hunters in Ohaofia, Abia State, hunted a big buffalo. I never knew there were buffalo in Eastern Nigeria. This might be one of the few remaining; I wish there was a way they could be saved from extinction in the region.
That is actually not how to solve hunger problems.
All the people in that video look well fed and no amount of buffalo meat can change them. An animal as big as that has many uses aside just meat. Poor people around the world use them for transportation and lifting heavy items. Farmers use them to move their ploughs, drag on heavy machines etc. Others breed them for consumption and recycling every part of them as shown in the chart. These people don’t live in flashy houses. The list is endless, but Nigerians only think of meat the moment they see such a huge animal and that is sickening.
🇳🇬 KNOW YOUR NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION — PART 18
📖 1999 Constitution (as amended)
SECTION 63 — HOW MANY DAYS MUST THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SIT?
Did you know that Nigerian senators and House of Representatives members are constitutionally required to sit for at least 181 days every year?
Section 63 requires both chambers to meet this minimum.
What this means: Lawmakers cannot simply decide to sit for a few weeks and spend the rest of the year on holiday.
The Constitution sets a minimum number of sitting days to ensure legislative business continues.
🇳🇬 KNOW YOUR NIGERIAN CONSTITUTION — PART 17
📖 1999 Constitution (as amended)
SECTION 55 — LANGUAGES OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Did you know that Nigeria's Constitution recognises four languages for conducting National Assembly business?
Section 55 provides that proceedings of the National Assembly shall be conducted in English and may also be conducted in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba when adequate arrangements have been made.
What this means:
English is the established language for legislative business, but the Constitution also provides for the use of three major indigenous Nigerian languages.
However, the provision does not require every legislative sitting to be conducted in all four languages.
These people are slave traders by mindset. Their ancestors owned slaves and they grew up watching their fathers treat their mothers as slaves. Slaves don’t own things so they equated the same mindset to every married woman.
All I can say to Nigerian women is, if you are not patient enough to interview your potential husband on how he and his family view marriage and partnership, you may find out things when it’s already too late. Them no dey tell person.
Black man sees meat, white man sees natural resources and wildlife worth protecting, to maintain their heritage. They open up wildlife tourism so that visitors can come and witness animals they’ve never been in close contact with but have read or heard about. They beautify their land with it.
Two humans; different mindsets.
African buffalos are rare in Nigeria due to overhunting.
East and South Africans are smart to protect their wildlife from meat hungry predators in human form. This alone has contributed to their tourism as people travel from around the world to see these animals in full display.
Ignorance is fast destroying Nigeria.
@FOMarshall2682@joashamupitan@inecnigeria There is nothing sane about Nigeria. I write for posterity, not that I expect anything to happen. The election will still be rigged in 2027, and nothing will come out of it.

Nigerians love weddings as long as the bride inherits nothing. All that in-law lovey-dovey is just while the man is still alive. If he dies, the frustration begins. The wife is already viewed as a glorified handmaiden that was brought in to bear children and deserves nothing. She has no say; she’s thrown out and most times with her children.
Nigeria does not recognize a woman or her children as next of kin and power of attorney, and that already is a problem.
Any asset a man left behind is for his wife and children. If there’s a will, then it should be respected, but the living disagree.
These are just one of those reasons why we look at the entire structure of Nigeria and shake our heads. That place is a nightmare for even the dead let alone the living. Hell no.
Toluwanisings this, Toluwanisings that. I will just say one thing: No matter how wealthy I may become in the future, no human being on earth has the right to force my wife to accept having me buried on her property (because it’s now her property). A house is not a burial ground, and if she says she is not comfortable with it, so be it.
“It’s because she planned to sell the house.” Is it your house or your father’s house? She can do whatever she wants with her property. Give her some respect.
I chuckle when someone sends me a message to borrow money from me to pay off a loan. You want to go from one loan to the other?
I think it’s best you stay with the loan sharks. You know why? Because they have better tools and manpower to track you down, but I don’t. You will take my money, block me, or emotionally blackmail me. I will angrily leave it for you and hold grudges for the rest of my life, but I’ll never get my money back. Just pay the loan sharks whenever you can.
