I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace when I came across one of his ads.

He listed the generator he bought for ₦450,000 last year for just ₦250,000.

I used my friend's Facebook account to negotiate with him.

He agreed to ₦200k.

My friend met him at a junction, paid, I went to pick it at night.

This morning, he came to charge his phone in my apartment.

He saw the generator on my verandah, stared at it, left, came back. Stared again. Left again.

When he came to pick up his phone, he said,

"This generator too resemble my own o, they just be like twinne"🧐

Many Nigerians want to complain online and offline about the country and blame President Tinubu. But when you interrupt their lamentation by asking them the name of their Senator or Representative, they can't answer. They do not know the name of their Local Government Chairperson. Yet, everything is Tinubu's fault.

But in reality, if you have dilapidated schools, blame your Governor and LGA Chairman. Nursery, primary, and secondary schools are their constitutional responsibilities. If you lack pipe-borne water, that is a failing of your state government. If you lack local clinics, face your LGA Chairman.

Read the Constitution before you join any protest against bad governance. Only bad citizens do not know their governments' responsibilities.

The President and the Federal Government are responsible for:

Defence and the Armed Forces
Foreign policy
Police
The Civil Service
Paramilitary Forces
Ports (though the President can permit states to own their ports)
Interstate Roads
Railways (though the President can grant a discussion for states to build railways)
Fiscal and monetary policy
Tertiary education (though they can dabble in secondary education)
National emergencies

The President and the Federal Government share the following responsibilities with the states:

Taxation
Housing
Healthcare
Information
Road infrastructure
Dams
Aviation
Environmental Management
Inland waterways

The following have been privatised or deregulated:

Power
The oil sector and many agencies or corporations, like the NNPC
Agriculture

We are no longer under military rule, where General Sani Abacha sat down in Abuja and controlled everything. If you are unaware of how your government works, you will end up blaming and fighting President Tinubu for what your Governor and LGA Chairperson are responsible for.

Opposition politicians who know that you are ignorant of how government works will capitalise on your lack of awareness to gaslight you so you can turn against the President and the Federal Government he leads, so that they can seize power. Therefore, learn how the government operates, or you will keep being used by politicians against your own interests.
