@Wavinya_Ndeti Access to clean water is access to life itself. 💧 It was an honor to inspect the St. Mary's Catholic Church Borehole in Tala today. This project is about more than just infrastructure—it's about restoring dignity, improving health, and ensuring our communities thrive.
Expanding Access to Clean and Reliable Water.
As a devolved function, water service provision remains a key priority of my administration. We will continue investing in projects that expand access to clean, safe, and reliable water for our people.
Inspected the St. Mary's Catholic Church Borehole in Tala, a transformative project that will provide a dependable source of clean water for the church congregation. Through the completed water reticulation network, the project will also supply clean water to the surrounding community, easing the burden of water shortages and improving the quality of life for many households.
Access to clean water is fundamental to health, dignity, and sustainable development, and we remain committed to ensuring no community is left behind.
@Wavinya_Ndeti This is the kind of forward-thinking leadership we need! Investing in sustainable water infrastructure is the backbone of community development. The aquaculture initiative is a brilliant way to create jobs and food security. Looking forward to seeing the fishing activities launch
My administration is investing in sustainable water infrastructure to improve livelihoods and strengthen climate resilience.
Maluva Dam in Sengani continues to support surrounding communities by providing water for domestic use, livestock, and agriculture.
The dam was desilted and stocked with fish, laying the foundation for aquaculture and creating future income-generating opportunities once fishing activities are fully launched.
To safeguard these gains, the dam will be fenced to ensure its protection and promote safe, sustainable use for the benefit of the community.
@Wavinya_Ndeti This is huge for Sengani, Katine, Makuie, Mangauni & Manza 👏 20 safe deliveries every month, closer to home. Real progress for maternal & child health in Mwananchi. #UHC#PrimaryHealthCare#MachakosInawezekana
No expectant mother should be forced to travel long distances to access maternity care.
The commissioning of the Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing represents a major step in bringing maternal health services nearer to home
The facility will serve over 5,200 residents, with about 600 women from,Kyaume ,Sengani, Katine, Mangauni and Manza set to benefit directly and improve access to skilled deliveries, reduce delays in seeking care, and enhance maternal and newborn outcomes through timely services within the community.
@Wavinya_Ndeti Productive discussions with @AMALI_Africa today! We are doubling down on data analysis & performance management to ensure every pillar of our development agenda delivers real impact for the people of Machakos.
This morning, I had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Lesego Tshuwa and Dr. Chukwuma Okolie, both City Data Advisors from the Africa Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI), South Africa, for a two-day engagement aimed at strengthening performance management and institutional excellence in Machakos County.
Our discussions focused on the county's performance management framework and the strides being made across the key development pillars driving transformation in Machakos. We also explored the role of data analysis and evidence-based decision-making in measuring impact and enhancing service delivery.
Tomorrow, the delegation will undertake site visits to observe these initiatives first-hand, gain a deeper understanding of the county's implementation journey, and identify existing gaps and priority areas requiring greater focus as we work towards achieving our development goals.
As a mother and Governor, I am deeply saddened by the rising cases of homicide within the county.
Just a few weeks ago, three young men were brutally murdered in Machakos town. A few days ago, Alphonce Matee, a County ICT Officer, was found dead at Kyumbi. In addition, we have witnessed other disturbing incidents, including the discovery of bodies dumped in Matungulu and Kathiani, incidents that concern all of us regarding safety and security of residents.
I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of all those who have lost their lives during these tragic circumstances. This is a difficult moment of grief for our county.
No parent deserves to bury their child, and no family should endure the pain of losing a loved one through such senseless acts of violence.
I urge our security agencies to comprehensively investigate all these cases and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
As a county, we remain committed to working closely with security agencies and the community to safeguard lives and restore public confidence.
May the departed souls rest in eternal peace.
@Wavinya_Ndeti Great engagement with retail and mitumba traders at Sokoni Market today. The insights from small-scale traders are clear: this sector can drive jobs and economic empowerment. We remain committed to create a business environment where enterprise can truly thrive.
Today’s tour culminated in an interactive engagement with retail and mitumba traders at Sokoni Market.
The discussions provided valuable insights into the opportunities within the small-scale trading sector, and my administration will continue working towards creating an enabling business environment to support enterprise growth, job creation, and economic empowerment for our people.
@Wavinya_Ndeti ✅ Cabro paving | ✅ Drainage & lighting | ✅ Safer streets
The St. Mary’s–Lau–Kivutini–Assembly upgrade is delivering: less flooding, better security, and a major boost for over 400 local SMEs.
Cleaner, more organized, and ready for economic growth. #UrbanDevelopmentForAll
My government recognizes that improving urban access and mobility is key to enhancing service delivery, safety, and local economic growth.
Inspected the completed works at St. Mary’s - Lau - Kivutini - Assembly area, including cabro paving, walkways, drainage systems, street lighting, and road furniture. These improvements have made movement safer and more convenient, especially during adverse weather, while reducing flooding risks and enhancing security.
The upgraded infrastructure has created a cleaner, more organized, and more livable environment. It is also expected to boost economic activity by improving access for over 400 SMEs, increasing customer traffic, expanding business opportunities, and strengthening the local economy while improving residents’ quality of life.
@Wavinya_Ndeti Access to clean water changes everything. The Kwa Kateti Borehole is already serving 45 households, with 300 more set to benefit in the next two months. Less time fetching water means more time for farming, business, and school. That's how you build better livelihoods.
Officially commissioned the Kwa Kateti Borehole in Mua Ward, which has a yield of 11 cubic metres per hour. The borehole has already been connected to 45 households, and in the next two months, we will extend the water distribution network to an additional 300 households.
This project will enhance access to clean and safe water for residents, reduce the time and distance spent in search of water, improve sanitation and hygiene standards, and contribute to improved livelihoods within the community.
Access to renal care at Machakos County Referral Hospital has significantly improved following the installation of new dialysis equipment at the renal unit. Previously, only a limited number of patients could access treatment, with many facing long waiting times or traveling long distances in search of specialized kidney care.
The upgraded system has expanded the hospital’s capacity to serve more patients, improved efficiency in service delivery, and strengthened the quality of dialysis services offered. Patients can now receive more timely and reliable care closer to home.
The people of Kamuthanga asked, and we delivered. Today, I officially opened the Kamuthanga Dispensary Maternity Ward in Mutituni/Ngelani Ward, bringing quality and affordable maternal healthcare services closer to the community.
The new facility is expected to serve over 5,000 residents, providing antenatal, delivery, postnatal, and other essential maternal and child health services.
This investment promotes community health through improved access, reduced infant mortality, and better mother and child well-being while bringing down the cost of treatment.
We are not just building hospitals, we are transforming communities by ensuring that their health is guaranteed.
Reliable water access is now a reality for thousands of residents in Mutituni Ward following the commissioning of the Inyooni–Kwa Onyango Weir, a transformative project that will directly and indirectly benefit over 10,000 residents. The project features a reticulation system linking two water storage tanks on either side of the weir, significantly improving access to water for domestic use.
Beyond supplying households with water, the weir has created a three-kilometer backflow stretch that supports livestock watering and crop irrigation, boosting agricultural productivity and local economic growth. This investment is empowering communities, improving livelihoods, and bringing us closer to the vision of Chakula Mezani, Pesa Mfukoni.
To enhance water access and support agricultural productivity in Mumbuni North Ward, I have today commissioned the Kyondu Weir, a key investment aimed at addressing water shortages for thousands of residents and improving livelihoods within the community.
The project will provide a reliable source of water for domestic use, livestock, and irrigation, reducing the distance residents travel in search of water while supporting year-round farming and food production. Through such transformative projects, we are empowering our people and strengthening local economies.
