Free 2 Play is the way!
Tavern Talk Episode 5 - Ale & Axes will become F2P

It's a logical next step. If you want to onboard as many players as possible with no entry barrier, you make your game F2P. As a very young game studio, this is the way for us! With Beyond God's Trench, Ale & Axes will therefore become Free 2 Play. For that, we will introduce Tier 0 (non-NFT) Adventurers.

There will be no need to own an NFT, but we want to ensure that owning one of our NFT Adventurers remains the holy grail for every player!

How’s here on the weekend?
Work continues on @TavernStudios Ale & Axes to get closer to our major update 👀

We now have an internal launch date goal and will keep our community in the loop on the development.

We’ve been working on this expansion pack for over 13 months now! The main working document started with around 30 pages and now contains 168 pages.

Ale & Axes has the potential to become one of the best clicker browser games. Combined with Web3 features, this will also showcase how the future of gaming can look 👀

With the expansion pack, Ale & Axes will become F2P. Everyone on Cardano can just try it out before considering buying one of our NFTs. This will get our game ready for the masses 💪🏼

Owning one of our Adventurer NFTs will remain the holy grail for most players as they unlock additional features, generate more loot/rewards, and give you the opportunity to dive even deeper into our gaming experience!

What type of abilities do you like most in RPG/fantasy games? 🔥🏹

Today I am working on the 📕 spell book for our RPG browser game Ale & Axes: Beyond God's Trench. @TavernStudios

The spell book is where players can see and filter all abilities they have collected. Some abilities can only be used for certain weapons or weapon types (melee/ranged), while others are connected to certain classes or archetypes.

With the spell book, players can easily swap abilities on their raiders, experimenting with new builds to beat enemies in PvE and PvP.

What type of abilities do you like most in RPG/fantasy games?

Are you prepared for it?

A little weekend alpha. Our team is creating 2-3 graphics to easily display the difference between NFT Adventurers and the Free 2 Play Adventurers which will be introduced with Ale & Axes Beyond God's Trench.

We must have graphics that can be easily understood to ensure everyone understands the benefits of NFT Adventurers right away. Yes, it's a challenge but we're up for it! When you want to be part of shaping the future of gaming, that's what you gotta do, innovate!

We're approaching this in 2 ways:

- Comapre general & in-game beneifts
- Compare the loot

Then we will most likely add one support graphic that helps to understand terms and certain new features. On top of all that we'll have an in-depth deep dive in the upcoming Tavern Talk.

One benefit that's not even gonna be displayed in any of the graphics is that you unlock these benefits through owning/buying an NFT Adventurer while still being able to sell/trade it at any point. Let that sink in!

Easiest way to explain this in gamers' terms?

First, let's find multiple examples to explain what NFT Adventurers could be compared to:

1. Legendary card in Clash Royale
2. King/Queen in Clash of Clans

These have a slight advantage but are def not Pay2Win as player skill is still the main thing.

Now let's look at what benefits we bring to gamers with our approach to NFT Adventurers:

- You could just trade the above examples and therefore change between variants
- You unlock additional Web3 benefits
- You tap into the ecosystem like you wouldn't be able to without an NFT

This goes far beyond pure in-game benefits. Think about and I bet you'll understand it quite quickly. This could spark interest even for non-gamers because, through our NFTs/FT, they can be part of our ecosystem without having to play!
