ٱدْعُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًۭا وَخُفْيَةً ۚ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ ٥٥
Call upon your Lord humbly and secretly. Surely He does not like the transgressors.

TAG as Adamawa Governor Will Bring More New Ideas
Ahmed Tijjani Galadima (TAG) is coming into the 2027 Adamawa governorship race with unique and compelling selling points.
He is an administrator, technocrat, and engineer who went through the mills of his profession through dedication, competence, and hard work. He was among the pioneer staff members of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) . Over the years, he served as Head of Education, General Manager of Education and Training, and Acting Executive Secretary in 2016 before eventually being appointed substantive Executive Secretary/CEO in late 2023. He remains the first, and currently the only, career PTDF staff member to lead the agency. Adamawa is expected to benefit greatly from his vast experience, managerial competence, and visionary leadership approach.
Tijjani is calm, strategic, and exceptionally informed. Within less than two and a half years as Executive Secretary/CEO of PTDF, he introduced impactful initiatives and forward-looking reforms that greatly repositioned the agency.
One of his notable accomplishments was the restructuring of the Overseas Scholarship Scheme (OSS). Under his leadership, the programme evolved from UK-focused Master’s studies managed externally to a broader scheme that included PhD programmes and several study destinations such as Germany, France, Malaysia, Brazil, China, and the United States. This expansion helped reduce costs while sustaining international academic quality.
He also championed the domestication policy aimed at minimizing reliance on foreign training by substantially increasing local scholarship opportunities. During his tenure, PTDF expanded collaborations with Nigerian universities from about 54 institutions to over 110 within a relatively short time.
Tijjani supervised transparent and merit-driven nationwide screening and selection exercises for thousands of fully funded Master’s and PhD scholarships in engineering, geosciences, energy studies, computing, management, and other related disciplines.
He further strengthened initiatives such as the split-site PhD scholarship programme at the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna (CPESK), which integrates local and international academic exposure.
In the area of institutional growth and infrastructure development, he drove the establishment and expansion of CPESK into a postgraduate-focused institution with accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC). This marked a significant step toward advancing local capacity in energy education and professional training.
Under his leadership, PTDF improved Centres of Excellence, university laboratories, lecture halls, ICT infrastructure, solar energy systems, and research facilities across more than 26 departments in Nigerian universities. He also reinforced PTDF Professorial Chairs, research intervention schemes, academic publications, and faculty development programmes in collaboration with tertiary institutions.
Tijjani also encouraged strategic collaborations and innovation. He facilitated Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with universities in the United Kingdom and other global institutions to deepen scholarship domestication and human capacity development. In addition, he established a Research and Development (R&D) department to promote innovation in the oil and gas industry.
Beyond this, he supported STEM education and technical skills development through partnerships with organizations such as the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). He also expanded vocational training, ICT initiatives, and entrepreneurship programmes, particularly within the Niger Delta region.
Tijjani prioritized transparency, staff welfare, career progression, and the appointment of qualified personnel into key management positions, contributing significantly to institutional stability and operational continuity within PTDF.
