Burying wood debris “is the most effective and the least expensive, and possibly the most sustainable way to capture carbon” as I opinionated in Cornell Chronicle. This CO2 removal strategy makes it hopeful to control warming at 2 oC or below if adopted. https://t.co/g6DukQNVLX
Probably my last Twitter sent out from UNT. It is a pleasure to be part of this UNT tree inventory project. The collaborative survey and GIS field app is time and effort consuming. But all worth it. Reach out to AERI if you are interested in the data or protocol.
I have to brag my students. Michael Biancardi - 1st year MS student won 2nd prize in 3 minute madness research presentation hosted by UNT AERI. Mentored high schoolers Max Huang and Luke Liu won honerable mention. Great job! Check their presentations in the comment.
First lab kick off meeting was a blast! Had a team all the way from high schoolers to PhDs. Invited a special 3rd grader to challenge my team's public presentation skills. 😄
This week, my lab hosted two geographyers and drone pilots - Tony Grubesic from UC riverside and Jake Nelson from Auburn - for a collaborative drone project in the city of Lewisville. Heat is no fun but we had fun with this coolest project.
Had a great time in HongKong - reunioned with our Lancet writing group on Ecocivilization and Health. Gained constructive feedback from Lancet editor-in-chief Dr. Horton.
Check out this almost unbelievable time-lapse of wildfire smoke consuming the World Trade Center and the New York City skyline.
Those vulnerable to poor air quality, including seniors and young children, should limit time outdoors if possible.
