Have a Happy Vesak Day!
On this Full Flower Moon (9:56 PDT), we honor peace, compassion, and the awakening of love in every heart.
Let us return to the stillness of no-thing, where Ahimsa blossoms quietly and powerfully.
The somatic body has no soul. What constitutes the idea of a soul is the unbroken continuity of information that the body has access to and continues on after the body dies. Proposing that the somatic body has locked within it some kind of imperishable soul misses the boat entirely. It is better to think of our somatic body to be like an iPhone that is tuned in to one particular station (the IP address). We have continued with this station throughout many lifetimes and will likely choose another body in the future, continuing with the same station. In this context, karma is our deep connection with the somatic body and the lifestream that we have chosen. This soul is not, of course, fundamental or in any sense absolute. The absolute is the nonlocal reality that is ubiquitous and envelops everything. It is invariant and is the substrate of all vibratory patterns that include information. In Buddhism, it is the Dharmakāya that transcends all forms of limitation; it cannot become an object of sense or intellect. We could call this the ātman which is also the Tathagatagarbha or Buddha-nature.
On Saturday, thousands of people and a large number of solidarity movements and organisations filled the streets of Stockholm to stand against oppression and for justice. Movements for climate justice, Palestine, Congo, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Sápmi, feminism, antiracism, Ukraine, East Turkistan, Sudan, class struggles, queer rights and many more.
We stand united across our struggles to fight together for a common goal; a world that puts people and planet before profit. One group’s fight is everyone’s fight, because no one is free until everyone is free. As climate justice activists we also fight for justice and liberation for all oppressed and colonised peoples.
This is only the beginning, we will not back down or be silenced.

Without educated women,
without women in employment, including in leadership roles,
without recognizing the rights and freedoms of one-half of its population,
Afghanistan will never take its rightful place on the global stage.
NEWS: The Pact for the Future has been adopted by member countries by consensus at UN Headquarters in New York.
The adoption will help pave the way for greater international cooperation for #OurCommonFuture.
How can we each do our part to protect journalists?
@mariaressa has a three-point playbook: education, legislation, and choosing to share content with inspiration.
Week 299. Malmö says NO to genocide! People from all over Sweden are gathering in Malmö this week, where Eurovision is taking place, to protest against Israel’s participation in the competition and to demand a #FreePalestine and #CeasefireNow ! Yesterday we were tens of thousands people flooding the streets of Malmö. We will not accept that a country currently committing genocide is allowed a platform to artwash themselves. The world cannot remain silent in a genocide. Everyone who can must use their voice and speak up against Israel’s crimes and occupation.

The Veto Initiative has served as a poignant reminder that the Council's failures are our own, & we can no longer accept that.
The UN Charter gives the General
Assembly enormous latitude to make recommendations across the UN’s program of work.
One State, one vote!
The active engagement of youth in non-proliferation, disarmament, and arms control is paramount; their voices are essential in promoting a culture of peace, innovative approaches, and activism, especially in a world that is heavily armed and seemingly geared towards conflict.
Global #MilitaryExpenditure surged in 2023, hitting $2443 billion, marking a 6.8% real increase from 2022—the largest jump since 2009 per @SIPRIorg.
With this uptick, are we seeing the Military Committee tackle the mandate outlined in Art. 26 of the UN Charter today?"
