In 1953, the CIA helped overthrow Iran’s Prime Minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh.

He was the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran.

He nationalized the oil industry, taking it from the British so Iran could finally keep the profits for itself.

Mosaddegh also stood up to foreign influence and strengthened parliament and democracy.

He pushed for reforms to fight corruption and improve life for ordinary Iranians.

His removal wasn't just politics, it ended a time when Iranians truly had a voice in their own future.
