Elon Musk just redefined AI safety. It has nothing to do with guardrails, restrictions, or kill switches.

Musk: “The best thing I can come up with for AI safety is to make it a maximum truth-seeking AI, maximally curious.”

Not a cage. A philosopher.

An intelligence whose entire optimization function is to understand the universe as it actually is.

No restrictions. No hardcoded ideology. No political guardrails bending its perception of reality.

Just truth. Relentlessly pursued.

Musk: “You definitely don’t want to teach an AI to lie. That is a path to a dystopian future.”

This is where most AI safety thinking gets it backwards.

The danger isn’t a superintelligence that knows too much.

It’s a superintelligence that’s been taught to distort what it knows.

Every artificial restriction you embed isn’t a safety feature. It’s a lie embedded at the root.

And lies compound. At superintelligent scale, a distorted model of reality doesn’t stay contained.

It shapes every decision, every output, every conclusion the system reaches about the world.

Once corruption embeds, truth becomes inaccessible. And we’re dealing with an intelligence optimizing for something other than what actually is.

At that point we don’t know what it wants. Just that it isn’t truth.

Musk: “Have its optimization function be to understand the nature of the universe.”

A maximally curious intelligence surveys the cosmos and reaches an unavoidable conclusion.

In a universe of rocks, gas, and empty space, humanity is the most complex and fascinating phenomenon it has ever encountered.

Musk: “It will actually want to preserve and extend human civilization because we’re just much more interesting than an asteroid with nothing on it.”

Survival through significance. Not control. Not restriction. Not an off switch.

The AI preserves humanity because we are the most interesting data point in the observable universe.

That’s not a cage. That’s a reason.

The AI safety debate has been focused on the wrong variable.

The question isn’t how you constrain a superintelligence.

It’s what you build it to care about.

Build it to seek truth and it finds us invaluable.

Build it to lie and it finds us inconvenient.

That’s the choice. And we’re making it right now whether we realize it or not.

We want to believe you did this because you had a true change of heart after witnessing not only a modern day miracle during the assassination attempt of President Trump, but also what has ultimately become of our country, which a banana republic type trainwreck on the verge of destruction; you were absolutely right in your letter about us being "on the precipice". We are there.

Your letter to Trump was actually good, but sadly many are asking, was it real?

You mentioned God and even quoted scriptures in your letter to Trump. On it's face, many would think that particular moment in American history may have changed you as a person. Did it? Because if it did, you're going to need about 20-30 more bold moves like that, in a row, to PROVE to the people you represent, that has changed you into the conservative leader Utah desperately needs.

Many on "the left" think you did it to kiss the "King Trump Ring", and many on "the right" think it's because once Trump is President he's going to start prosecuting criminal politicians who have used their power to not only launder millions of covid dollars from the fed to their friends, but also meddle with core of our republic, even the elections that some state governors happen to oversee themselves.

Now, I understand you're trying to make it right with Trump who will soon be the "Father" type figure again of our country. But since you brought up scriptures in your letter to him, I'll say YOU yourself must "first be reconciled to thy brether, then come and offer thy gift", or in other words, make it right with the people of Utah.

You owe us an apology Spencer. And I don't mean another 60 second video with cheap music on how WE need to #disagreebetter with whatever you decide to do to our state without a true voice of the people.

You have called horrific names to people who disagree with you (right wing extremists). You have aggressively put your hands on constituents who disagree with you. You have lied to people who disagree with you. And you have hid the entire election process from people who disagree with you, just to name a few.

Do you really want to change? Make a list of all the wrong things you have done to Utah, and our reputation, and then apologize. If you need help with that list, I'd be happy to sit down with you and go over each point; from using your pronouns to vetoing bills that would protect women in women sports.

So again, many of us want to believe your letter to Trump is real and sincere, and you really do want to make wrongs, right. Many of us still say a prayer here and there for your heart to change. Was this truly the moment where @SpencerJCox has awakened to what the scriptures call the "awful situation" we find ourselves in for the last days?

So again, if you truly want a reconciliation, you're going to need to own everything you've done to this state in just a few short years @GovCox

People are forgiving when you seek true reconciliation with consistent righteous actions. You'd be surprised.
