Wouldn’t it be interesting if one of the consequences of the godawful tragedy unfolding in Ukraine was that instead of fussing over how much more we might have to pay for gas we started seriously thinking about how we could use less of it?

I’m personally not yet convinced we need the Emergencies Act to remove hot tubs, bouncy castles and campfires from the streets of downtown Ottawa.

We need a royal commission, a national conversation about where the right to protest should begin and end, how to keep our streets, our borders, and yes our logging roads, safe and open, and how to ensure law enforcement can maintain order without undue risk of violence.
