This afternoon we explored Padstow. We looked at how space use, building age and env quality varied across 8 sites, from residential areas to the marina.
We enjoyed the sun, some fudge and popped to Rick Steinโs - wish all workdays were like this!

Day 2 in Cornwall ๐
We headed to the beach, where students measured sand dune succession, and also analysed the difference in sediment and beach use between Harlyn and Constantine Bay.
Lovely weather and lovely students equals a lovely day!

Forgot to say that Monday was spent more locally doing fieldwork with Y12! We took them to the Worcester Woods to analyse soil structure, measure carbon content of trees, assess canopy cover and examine the infiltration rate across the area.
#NationalFestivalofFieldwork
Excellent day at the Eden Project! Students looked at carbon movement through the biomes and the role we play in mitigating climate change.
We then headed over to camp - tents are now up, sun is shining and weโre off out for dinner.

Final day of fieldwork!
Weโve done 8 days this half term - 4 individual days with Y10 and a 4 day residential with Y12. To top it off, 6 of those days were in #nationalfieldworkfortnight!
Out with Y10 today collecting fieldwork data! Great to be able to see their case study in real life and compare the reality to the original Arena Central plans.
Today we visited Rhossili Beach to carry out a study of the extent to which the sand dunes fit the psammosere model, and then headed to Three Cliffโs Bay. Our plans to look at sediment were scuppered by the downpour, but students were upbeat and smiling throughout!
Day 2 involved looking at land use in various parts of Swansea, and despite the poor weather we enjoyed a visit to the National Waterfront Museum, saw the impact of hard engineering on the environment up close and enjoyed a meal out to round off the day. @TGAWSixthform
Perfect timing - the students are lucky enough to see the live action building of their coastal management case study!
Amazing how far these panels are driven into the ground.
Mr Hughesโ drone footage of the students playing football on the beach yesterday is pretty cool!
Today weโre off to Swansea for some Changing Places fieldwork and then to the Mumbles to look at the impact of tourism.
@TGAWPrincipal@TGAWSixthform
Mr Hughes has flown his drone over the Port Eynon area and the students are having an evening lesson looking at the inaccessible landforms up close! @TGAWSixthform
First stop done!
Students have looked at a range of things in Cardiff including evidence of Cardiff being a global and clone city, the extent to which it is sustainable, and exploring how some areas are being regenerated.
Weโre off to Wales on our Year 12 fieldtrip for the next four days. Looking forward to some excellent data collection and hopefully some sunshine with a great bunch of students.
Day 1 of fieldwork season - Carding Mill Valley with Year 10.
Back again tomorrow with the other half of the cohort!
Beautiful weather and a great group.
Parent meeting tonight for our Y12 residential field trip to Wales, and off to Carding Mill Valley with Y10 on Thursday and Friday - happy #NationalFieldworkFortnight!
