It’s important but basically a curiosity dead-end for new students entering something relevant to the modern world. Curiosity-driven, project-based is one good way!

@lcgeography @DrWendyRocks @GeogSteel Look at the majority of EQ block diagrams with focus/epicentre. They have a fault drawn but the visual message is a single dot with wavefronts emanating from that point. Though not technically wrong, it conveys the single point concept.

@KathyBenison @sedsnseismic The interesting thing for students with the anti dune case is how do you infer them if the full form is rarely present? There’s potential for preserving some amount of x-strat but how do you tell apart from other x-strat like dunes?

@JB_GeogTeacher @lcgeography Some proposed # are up to 90% of motion by slab pull. Make sure to differentiate plate vs slab, as a rigid plate could only sustain so much tension before fracturing. The slab pull model is also very much about suction, not just ‘pull’

@clasticdetritus @KeepItRheol I use this too. Biggest reason explained to me: it’s no longer about you holding punishment over students and vetting reasons. It’s there, use it or not. Most never have to. it changes the relationship in project-based classes. Let’s face it, we profs use this clause too!
