At some point, senior Premier League execs have to offer a proper explanation in public for their leniency towards Chelsea. They owe an explanation to fans of clubs punished more harshly. They owe an explanation to those clubs who did abide by the rules. They have to offer some explanation as to why PSR breaches are deemed far more serious than acts of "deception and concealment". Yes, these are the offences of a previous regime at Chelsea. But inconsistencies run through the PL's defence and their reputation is damaged. They can’t hide from a controversy of this magnitude.

My father came to the UK as an asylum seeker. He was a child who spent the war years in a Siberian prison camp and later a ghetto in Uzbekistan.

He was given nothing - other than an opportunity for refuge.

A fee had to be paid to bring him over. He had to guarantee he had a family to stay with.

He was not given state housing, hotels, education, pocket money, a mobile phone (obv!)… nothing!

Yet he came, learned the language, built a business and a family and contributed to society.

He was ever thankful to Britain, a huge patriot and hung a picture of the Queen in his office.

Asylum seekers today are given everything and have no respect for the country they arrive at.
