I am back on X again. Going to start cross-porting posts as I still have a good amount of followers here!
So where are we π€
Over this bank holiday weekend LMS Black 5 45212 visited Norfolk on the week long 'The Great Britain XVII' tour. Seen at Attleborough, Kennett and Soham!
As much as the 37s were great, my favourite of the home fleet was out in action over the weekend at the Mid-Norfolk Railway Diesel Gala. 33202 'Dennis G. Robinson' seen here in the blazing sun decending Danemoor Bank into Kimberley Park station. 47580 on rear out of shot.
Early-ish doors on Sunday morning of the Mid-Norfolk Diesel Gala, visiting Class 37 37407 'Blackpool Tower' is seen storming out of Dereham on the 10:40 Wymondham service, 47596 seen just out of shot on rear.
Even though it was the morning, the heat was strong π¬.
The lash-up to end Day 2
Visitors 37611 'Pegasus' and 37407 'Blackpool Tower' with 47596 and 33202 on the rear of the set head over Crownthorpe Bridge nearing the end of the 17:10 Dereham - Wymondham service. 37611 adorned with the Class 37 Loco Group headboard.
In the sweltering heat, Class 33 33202 'Dennis G. Robinson' approaches Thuxton heading northbound with Class 37 37407 'Blackpool Tower' awaiting its trip south to Wymondham Abbey.
Great first day of the Mid-Norfolk Railway Diesel Gala!
I have been down south to Somerset to attend the West Somerset Railway Spring Steam Spectacular 2026.
The highlight was actually this evenings last run out of Minehead. 80078 was swapped with 60007 giving a brilliant double header! More photos soon!
975025 βCarolineβ and 37418 βAn Comunn Gaidhealachβ passing near Newton Flotman outside Norwich on 2Z70.
Unfortunately low mobile data in the area meant I had no clue when it was due. So I waited for 15 mins in hope it hadnβt passed. Luckily I kept waiting!
Another weekend spent on the Mid-Norfolk Railway today. This weekend is celebrating 60 years of Class 47 47596 'Aldeburgh Festival'.
My favourite of the two 47s at the railway as two tone green hits the spot.
Varied weather today with it sleeting for a bit, in March!
A chance to see ROMIC's complete Castle Set running at the Mid-Norfolk Railway for the first time.
43092 and 43093, the last set out of Laira, would have their first running day under ownership of ROMIC up and down the railway alongside the 142 Pacer.
A visit to the North Norfolk Railway on Mothers Day to enjoy the sunshine and steam... to which the sun went away as soon as I arrived :/.
Top and Tailed WD 2-10-0 90775 and Class 31 D5631 were the locos and a Class 101 were in action over the day.
An hour past sunset and the final bit of light in the sky, made the best out of my not so brilliant phone camera for night shots.
31128 'Charybdis' seen at Spooner Row heads to Yarmouth. Taking on Load 9 from Chaddesden Sidings in Derby. First mainline PED in Norfolk for years!
The star of the show?
GBRf Class 66 66791 'Settle & Carlisle 150' paid a visit to the railway during the weekend.
Now this 66 and the 45 seemed to be as far as they could be every time it went past me, my luck wasn't great but at least this shot was redeemable!
The oddest unplanned service of the Nene Valley Gala π€!
Class 14 9529 was seen rescuing the double Swedish Railcar set from its duties at the Peterborough end of the railway back to Wansford for repairs.
This caught me off guard but its an interesting move to see!
Today I visited the Nene Valley Railway for their Diesel Gala.
First up, I got the chance to see the lovely repainted 43048 in the retro Midland Mainline Bambi livery. Really shined through the grey clouds. 43045 also being in a livery I love on the HST's.
Double Class 57's anyone?
57306 and 57303 seeing passing through Cantley heading towards Yarmouth with the stock from the WSMR Private Charter yesterday.
Nice to finally see some proper Spring weather and colours return!
What a weekend this was.
UKRailtours and LSL brought Class 45 45118 and Class 47 47593 to in Norfolk to operate a few tours to and from Norwich.
Seeing the set three times over this weekend, twice on Saturday (the morning photos were awful) and Sunday in the actual daylight.
I am back!
After a little month and a half break I have returned to post train goodness!
To catchup with what we missed. December 28/29th, 37407, 20007 and 20205 visited Norfolk to begin the UKRailtours Awkward Week Adventurer tour. Seen at Harling Road, Acle and Dunston!
A Bullied under Paddington's Roof and a Polar Express styled Black 5!
On a trip to London over the weekend I managed to get out to see 34028 'Eddystone' arrive into Paddington under the glorious roof. Also 44871 on the Polar Express going home at Hanwell!
Well, I wake myself up at 6am just a few hours before work to see LMS Black 5 44871 haul the annual 'York Yuletide Express' tour from Norwich to York passing Attleborough. This is the amazing photo I get π.
The sound of it was amazing so at least that was redeemable!
A very very wet and cold November Saturday and what do I do, sit in a warm home..... no!
Today I headed out to Manea on the Hereward Line (Ely to Peterborough) to see LNER A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' perform a turning move before heading home. Also other bits seen there too!
