@cricketkit We have a good insurance policy - but not sure if this will fall under one of those "acts of god" exclusions for natural events. I'll have to have a read through the small print! Hope things settle down ahead of your planned trip!
In Iceland currently, staying close to the town of Vogar, around 10-20km north of the possible site of a volcanic eruption. Watching things develop and feeling exceptionally sad for the people of Grindavík, I was there on Christmas Day last year - it's a wonderful town.
@cricketkit It was a pre-planned trip, we arrived yesterday morning from London. It seems being up in the Vogar area we have been somewhat sheltered from the earthquakes so far - we haven't felt much - despite the impacts being devastating a few miles down the road.

I think there’s actually a good argument for an Apple search engine included as part of an iCloud subscription. Without any advertising in the results.
I absolutely cannot believe Apple is marketing this as a feature after @nicnguyen and I have done multiple @WSJ stories and videos about how this very feature is being used by iPhone thieves across the country to permanently lock victims out of their Apple accounts. This feature needs to be changed. Not marketed.
Massively under-reported science story because there's so much going on right now but...it turns out that we might have figured out what's causing this very scary spike.
Quick thread, on how WE'VE BEEN ACCIDENTALLY GEOENGINEERING FOR DECADES...but then we stopped:

As a former university teacher: ALevel grades are not a great predictor of university performance because it’s a different set of skills you need to do well at university. From “learn and repeat” to “research, contribute and critique”. Many other reasons too, I’m simplifying.
Imagine a world where students’ prospects are not locked-in with A-levels at age 18 and where university can be a place for personal growth & development…

My mum collapsed. Ambulance called, but told it would be some time. Waited an hour - no show - A&E by car when mum came round. A & E overrun and said go home and call doctor in the morning. Call doctors' surgery at 8 - no appointments today - try again tomorrow. I despair 😥
