nevermind I've seen it back from the angle on the far sideline and it does look like he infact intentionally impede the keeper rather than just standard crowding
you've got 4 years of evidence from his time at United that this version of Casemiro cannot play in a single pivot but is still a great player in a double pivot and yet guess how Ancelotti is deploying hin
it would actually be much closer to ensuring that the wide receiver has to start on or behind a certain line at the start of the play, one could call this a 'line of scrimmage'
I think this hits the nail on the head when it comes to this discourse. Any other 'solution' either adds more subjectivity to an already heavily subjective rulebook, or would incentivise defenses to sit a lot deeper killing the entertainment of the sport.
As someone who was not into soccer for the first 17 years of my life and thought this same way I think the reason thereโs so much offside discourse from casual fans during the WC is because it really seems like the rule can be far better if itโs adjusted but it really just canโt
I know it's not the smart thing to do and almost certainly for the worst for the club and the player, but I would love to watch Rashford play in a United shirt again
I don't agree with the decision and for personal reasons would've preferred us to be on the other side of the bracket to ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ. But it's not hard to see why ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ท๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ with no risk of unnecessary injuries and more rest is more appealing than the relatively small chance of ๐ธ๐ช๐ฉ๐ช๐ณ๐ฑ/๐ฒ๐ฆ.
I still don't understand why Norway chose not to fight for first place. I don't see how Ivory Coast is an easier opponent than Sweden, both are difficult games, and honestly I might even argue Ivory Coast is the tougher one.
The only explanation I can think of is that they didn't believe they could beat France's side even with their best XI, so they preferred to save energy instead. I understand the logic, but to me it still feels like a looser mentality.
