As an immigrant who found freedom and prosperity in America, I am deeply moved by this honor. I accept it on behalf of the many people around the world with whom the Open Society Foundations have made common cause over the past 40 years.
Your note is respectful @mattyglesias, but nonetheless it has perhaps unintentionally opened a sewer drain of awful anti-semitic tropes and innuendo that make Viktor Orban look pollyannaish.
This corner of the lot thinks that @AlexanderSoros putting his support behind @Tim_Walz and @KamalaHarris is a great thing for the country and for #Democrats. This is transparent, up front advocacy. I think it's pretty awful that even many #HarrisWalz24 supporters want to feed into the anti-semitic Soros hysteria by telling them to stay behind the scenes.
The @OpenSociety foundations and the Soros family funded much of the progressive movement in America today because @georgesoros smelled a whiff of what took over 1930s Germany - and some on the right's fetish for autocracy. I applaud that. Others can criticize it - -that's a democracy working.
But the notion that Alex should stay in the background is sad and wrong-headed because it cedes ground to bigots and racists, and those who have tried to slime Soros who has done incredible work in my book trying to save open discourse, real debate, and an open society.
I look forward to @NowrojeeOSF’s leadership toward furthering @OpenSociety as a truly global organization, and I am deeply grateful to @malloch_brown for laying the groundwork to get us here.
We welcome @NowrojeeOSF, who has been serving as vice president, as the new president of the Open Society Foundations. @malloch_brown will step down in June. https://t.co/7S3xGY5T84
Rising antisemitism has deadly consequences and is now being weaponized to stifle debate. The White House’s first-of-its-kind National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism is a strong step in combatting this hatred. https://t.co/7ObhMmPGHI
Too much is happening too fast in the world. This “polycrisis,” chiefly caused by the rise of AI, climate change, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is endangering democracies worldwide. Leaders must step up to respond. https://t.co/S0EExaPWfG
Thread - Like Fox News, NY Post can’t stop lying to its readers. Rather than grapple with complexities of crime in the US, they duck meaningful argument, preferring to fall back on tired trope of blaming George Soros and reformers. Let’s look at facts: https://t.co/xkgJtsRpxh
Opre Roma! Today is world #RomaDay. Roma, are Europe’s largest and poorest minority. “They are now joining forces to support their communities and together create a fairer and equal Europe," says our own @jovanovicz.
While I didn’t contribute to Alvin Bragg’s campaign, I have supported many other reform-minded prosecutors. Anyone who wants to know why should read this article I wrote in @WSJ. https://t.co/GBOwlrCkO9

Climate change is an existential threat to our civilization. Human interference has destroyed a previously stable system and human ingenuity will be needed to restore it: https://t.co/sQMMTM9nxn
Climate change in the Arctic Circle gravely threatens all people. To counter this threat, we need to reduce emissions, remove excess greenhouse gasses, and—most importantly—refreeze the Arctic.
