Lua — a suspended light sculpture inspired by the graceful flow of silk.
Commissioned for a private residence in North Vietnam, Lua features 20,000+ hand-painted glass spheres in amber and frosted white. Its flowing form mirrors silk’s soft undulations, evoking elegance, serenity, and grandeur.
Created with digital artists @onformative , Lua translates silk’s motion into a sculptural form impossible to craft by hand, blending meticulous craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation.
Lighting by @johncullenlight allows the atmosphere to shift at the touch of an iPad — from calm evening mode to vibrant party mode. Hundreds of fibre optics sparkle like fireflies, while soft downlights wash the sculpture in gentle light.
A fusion of digital art and artisanal craft, Lua embodies light, movement, and emotion.

Lua — a suspended light sculpture capturing the movement of silk. Made from 20,000 hand-painted glass spheres, it merges digital innovation and craftsmanship to express a new form of contemporary beauty. #LightingDesign#ArtAndTechnology
Each and every glass tube was hand-made for the three Wuting chandeliers. The glass fabricators, based in East London, put each and every glass tube into a Saturn lathe in order form the lip in the top end with tungsten carbide
It is the careful, precision hand-made touch that ensures all the glass tubes are as identical as possible to make the chandeliers as beautiful as they need to be
It takes weeks to not only fabricate the glass tubes, but to then apply a hand-cut wire to suspend them takes even longer
It is the love and attention that shines through to the final result to make sure the client, and finally the visitors of the fabulous Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, to experience the full, understated, rich impact that can be achieved with such careful, considered design

This large installation was designed for Foster & Partners’ new Oakley House building next to Battersea Power Station in London
Made of hundreds of large handmade glass pendant lights it’s designed to evoke a sense of minimal, sophisticated elegance and understated grandeur
This is the view of the Roseus chandelier from beneath. Here you can see some subtle colour mixing of the light. Use the App on your smartphone to play with colours to add drama, a sense of warmth, or to compliment a themed event you’re having in the space
The Roseus Chandelier, designed for the Malmaison Hotel in York, can be changed to any colour using a smart phone
It’s useful and fun to change the colour to enhance a mood and provide an element of customisation which provides a more personal touch

The Void Chandelier was designed for a beautiful lake-side house in Geneva. The gentle, inverted parabolic form is inspired by melting ice, the snow and the lake, and the view of Mont Blanc in the background
